Robert Henry LeClair

Robert Henry LeClair, 89, passed away on August 18, 2026, at his home in Leesburg, Florida. Robert was born on February 11, 1937, in Northwood, New Hampshire, and grew up in Rochester, where he attended Spaulding High School. Though his later years took him away from New Hampshire, it was always home. Robert proudly served his country for 20 years in the United States Marine Corps, retiring as a Gunnery Sergeant (E-7). His military career included two tours of duty in Vietnam. He carried the pride, discipline, strength, and loyalty of a Marine with him throughout his life. Following his retirement from the Marine Corps, Robert began a second career with the Strafford County House of Corrections. He started as a corrections officer and, through years of hard work and dedication, rose through the ranks, ultimately retiring as Superintendent. Robert married Patricia Margaret Roach of Newport, Rhode Island, and together they shared more than 50 years of marriage before her passing in 2014. After a life filled with family, love, and laughter, Robert will return home to his beloved New Hampshire, where he will be laid to rest beside his “Patty Mag.” Of all the titles Robert held throughout his long life, none meant more to him than Dad and Papa. He was a devoted father to his daughter, Lisa Marie Hall of Las Vegas, Nevada, and an extraordinarily proud Papa to his grandson, Robert Cory Poulin and wife Arianna, and his great-grandsons, Angel and Arlo Poulin. They were a constant source of happiness and joy, and he never missed an opportunity to talk about them, share a favorite story, or ask what they were doing. Robert also leaves behind his sister, Ida Glidden of Rochester, New Hampshire; a grandson, Cody Hall of Nevada; and a granddaughter, Samantha Hall of Utah. He also had many cousins, nieces, and nephews whom he loved dearly. He was predeceased by his wife, Patricia; his mother, Ruby Ella (Fortin) Couture; his brothers, Richard LeClair, Leon LeClair, and Butch Couture; and his much-loved dogs, Brandon, Petey, and Petey II, who were faithful companions through many years of his life. Robert loved the simple things that brought people together: cookouts and barbecues, camping, fishing, good food, good stories, and time spent with the people he loved. Those who knew him will remember a man who loved deeply, took tremendous pride in his family, and lived a life defined by service—to his country, his community, and above all, to the people he called family. A ceremony with military honors will be held for him in April 2027 at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen. Details will be announced at a later date. He was the best Dad and Papa his family could ever have hoped for, and he was loved beyond measure. His stories, his laughter, and the love he gave so freely will be carried forward by those who were fortunate enough to call him theirs.
