Obituary of Robert Goguen Robert A. Goguen, 67, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 12, 2011 at his home in The Villages. Born in Worchester, Massachusetts, Bob spent most of his life in Connecticut. He enlisted in the Connecticut Air National Guard in 1962 and traveled the world while he proudly served his country for over 40 years. In 2003, he retired with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. Bob and his wife, Marti McGrath, moved to The Villages from Connecticut in 2005. They happily discovered a new community and friends that were just as warm and sunny as their new Florida home. Bob loved playing golf, pickleball, and showing off his culinary skills for any family or friend who would join their dinner table. He often greeted the morning with a quiet and satisfied "I love it here." This resonated a love of life and laugher to those around him, and they, in turn, echoed back. In addition to Marti, Bob's survivors include her children, whom he treated as if they were his own: Dr. Michael T. McGrath MD, of Columbus, Ohio, and Jennifer Anne McGrath of Anchorage, Alaska. He also leaves behind his brother and close friend, Norman Goguen, along with his sister, Nellie Goguen, a niece and two nephews. In keeping with Bob's strongly held philosophy that "It's always 5 o'clock somewhere!" a celebration of his life will be held Friday, June 17th at the Cane Garden Country Club starting at 3pm. A Hawaiian shirt and a shared memory of how Bob impacted your life will be the only cost of admission. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his name to the Humane Society/SPCA of Sumter County, PO Box 67, Lake Panasoffkee, FL 33538.
