Richard "Dick" Norris

Richard “Dick” Norris, 69, passed on to a better place on Friday April 18th, 2025 due to a sudden cardiac event. Richard was a dedicated worker, a loving husband and a proud father that will be dearly missed by his wife Pam and son & daughter in law Matthew & Megan. Richard took great pride in his community & friends in The Villages, FL and will be remembered as a kind man who was always willing to lend a helping hand. Richard was born to Jim & Ann in the tight knit community of Pendleton & Anderson Indiana. Competitive from a young age, he grew up playing golf, tennis & football, with golf becoming a life-long passion that he shared with his friends and family. Following in his father Jim & brother Roger’s footsteps, Richard became an avid fan of all things Purdue, frequently attending basketball and football games with his family. After graduating high school, he became a Boilermaker himself, pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering and entering into the Sigma Nu brotherhood. To begin his career, he pursued his passion for cars and began working at General Motors leveraging his technical background. At GM, he met a beautiful young woman who later became his wife, Pam. As Richard’s career grew, it took Pam & later their son, Matthew many places across the country including Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, North Carolina, Washington and ultimately back to Ohio. His focus at work evolved as well, working initially in technical sales, all the way to VP roles in Sales & Marketing at impactful companies. Regardless of his company or position, his passion remained in the developing and mentoring of his employees and experiencing in their success. Despite his successful career, Richard’s family is where he found his true happiness. When his son Matthew was born in 1990, he embraced a new journey and became a supportive father. He leaned in and taught Matt how to golf, coached some of his soccer teams and more importantly, instilled core principals of integrity and compassion that guided his own life. When Matt attended university, Richard picked up a new fandom and joined Matt in cheering for Gonzaga basketball (except for when they played Purdue!) In 2016, Richard retired and moved down to The Villages with Pam to begin a new chapter of their lives. In The Villages, Richard found a community of close friends and neighbors with shared interests and a sense of collaboration. In this chapter, he became an avid swimmer and could be found most mornings at the Pine Hills pool, getting in his daily lengths. He also enjoyed taking care of his “toys”, namely his Street Rod and Porsche, playing golf, card games and socializing with his friends – many of which moved down to Florida to join them in The Villages While he left us unexpectedly, Richard’s life story and accomplishments are to be treasured and remembered. A selfless and dedicated man, he will be dearly missed by his family and those that he impacted in life. Richard’s life will be celebrated on Thursday, April 24th, 2025 at the Beyer’s Funeral Home in Lady Lake Florida (134 North US-441, Lady Lake, FL 32159). Visitation will begin at 11am with a service to follow at 12pm. The celebration will continue at a to-be-disclosed location with the family afterwards, for refreshments & retelling of fond memories. In lieu of flowers, please send any heartfelt donations in Richard’s name to your local animal rescue or humane society. Four-legged furry friends have always had a special place in Richard’s heart as we know they do for many of his friends and loved ones.
