Louis "Lou" Nicharot

Louis “Lou” Nicharot, devoted husband, father, grandfather, public servant, singer, sports enthusiast, and self-declared (and largely uncontested) trivia champion, passed away, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and impressively accurate answers. Lou was the beloved son of Janet Riley and Louis Nicharot, and the cherished husband of Susan Holtz Nicharot, with whom he shared a loving marriage since 1967. Together, they built a life rich in family, music, and mutual devotion. He is survived by his children, Deborah Nicharot, Noelle Nicharot, Jennifer Geist and her husband, Jeffrey Geist, and by his adored grandchildren: Nicole Watts, Jade Geist, Kayla Tullis, Bryson Tullis, and Maresa Nicharot-Emory. Lou took immense pride in his family and was never happier than when surrounded by them, especially if a spirited debate or trivia question was involved. Lou earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Penn State University and went on to receive his Juris Doctor from Villanova University. He dedicated his professional life to public service and industry, working with the U.S. Treasury Department and Bethlehem Steel, where his diligence and integrity left a lasting impression. Beyond his career, Lou lived life with enthusiasm and curiosity. He was an avid sports enthusiast who enjoyed tennis, running, basketball, golf, and swimming, often with the same competitive spirit he brought to everything else. He also had a deep appreciation for the arts as an amateur photographer and lover of fine arts. Music was one of Lou’s greatest passions. Though he never sought the spotlight and preferred harmony over center stage, he spent more than 50 years sharing his voice with others. He sang with the Village Pops Chorus and performed in several beloved barbershop quartets, including Four’s Company, My Better Half, where he had the joy of singing alongside his wife, Susan, and Sound Celebration. Most recently, he performed with the a cappella group “A Cappella Gold,” sharing his love of harmony and camaraderie with fellow singers and listeners alike. Lou will be remembered not only for his accomplishments and talents but also for his humor, humility, and unmistakable quiet confidence. As family lore goes, Lou was his own team of one in Trivial Pursuit, and he thought he was wrong once, but he was mistaken. His wit, warmth, and wisdom will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his voice, both in song and in spirit, will continue to echo in the hearts of those he loved. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to honor Lou by sharing a song, enjoying a good game, or confidently answering a trivia question, just as he would have.
