Kent Ladd

Kent Ladd was born on November 10, 1940 in Hazelton, ND to Margorie and Howard. He passed away in Leesburg, FL on February 16,2026. Kent married the love of his life, Mary, in June of 1961. They have two children, Ken and Cheryl. Kent went to school for auto mechanics and worked as an auto mechanic for a few years for Nelson Implement in Milnor ND. They then moved to Wahpeton where he then taught at the State School of Science for four or so years. He began working for Chevrolet Motor Division which moved them to Grand Forks ND where he was assistant zone service manager. This job moved him to Fargo ND. He was promoted to zone service manager. There his leadership skills were recognized with many service awards. They lived in Moorhead. This work led Kent and Mary to the Detroit area where he lived until retirement. He had a patient manner well suited to hosting his many grandchildren and great grandchildren at the lake when he retired. His love for all of his family was great. Living in Minnesota allowed him to follow his passion of spending time on the water, enjoying many fish fries from his latest catches. His passion for mechanics continued in retirement as he built a shop, always tinkering on his beloved John Deere tractors. After a few years in Minnesota, Kent and Mary decided winters were a bit too harsh so they became snowbirds residing in Florida during the colder months. A lifelong Christian, Kent believed in service to the church; he enjoyed being the finance chair and multiple other positions in the churches they belonged to, most recently Ottertail Global Methodist and First Christian Church in Leesburg FL. He and Mary enjoyed being busy in the churches and made many friends. Kent is survived by siblings, Bob Ladd, Dean Ladd, Greta Guthmiller, Patty (Bryon) Patron, and Michele (Scott) Schouveiller; children, Ken (Julia) and their children, Kendall and Kat (Jacob) Finger and their children, Izzy and Leland; Cheryl (Doug) Borgen and their children, Dylan Horn, Devin (Amber) Horn, their children, Theo and Tommi, and Max Borgen. Also left behind are their very dear close friends, Jan and Gary Ellis. He is also survived by Mary's brother, Ray Johnson; sister, Angie Brown, and numerous nieces and nephews. He had a strong Christian faith. He accepted Jesus as his savior. We believe he is in heaven rejoicing with Jesus and the family that went before. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the First Christian Church 1701 Vine Street, Leesburg, Florida, 34748 with a light luncheon to follow.
