Karen Ann Geisinger

Karen A. Geisinger, 71 of Zephyrhills, Florida passed away peacefully on October 20 , 2019. She was born on October 10, 1948 to her parents John and Alice Cawley in Niskayuna, New York. Karen attended Mohawk Central High School in Mohawk, New York and graduated with the Class of 1966. After graduating high school, she went on to serve our county and was a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army. She was a veteran of the Gulf War. After serving in the Army, she went on to earn a degree as a surgical technician and worked for various hospitals in Texas and in Florida. When she was not working she enjoyed reading, going to casinos, buying scratch offs, and spending time with her family and friends. She loved vacationing with her family and going on cruises to see different parts of the world. She loved spending time by the beach and collecting sea shells. She was an avid music lover, as she loved going to concerts and shows with her husband. She was a die hard Jimmy Buffet and Dallas Cowboy fan. She loved cheering on her favorite team. Karen also was very passionate about animals. She rescued many four legged friends thought the years which they all became part of the family. If you knew Karen well, you know how much she loved flamingos. Karen was immensely proud of her family, and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories and will always be remembered for her kind, fun loving and compassionate spirit. Karen is survived by her loving husband of 24 years, Thomas R. Geisinger, mother Alice Cawley, brother Stephen (Dawn) Cawley, her children Gary D. Hempling and Shawn (Jana) Hempling, her step-son Tommy Geisinger, her grandchildren Sarena and Sabrina Hempling, Rodolfo and Sara Swindle, Madison Daniels and a great granddaughter Alejandra. As well as a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. Karen was predeceased by her father, John S. Cawley Jr. and grandparents Mr. and Mrs. John Cawley Sr. and Lloyd and Pearl Haponski. The family asks that in honor of her memory that people donate in support to your local animal shelter, in lieu of sending flowers. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, November 3rd, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Zephyrhills Women's Club, 38545 5th Ave., Zephyrhills, FL 33542. Friends are invited to share memories and celebrate Karen's life. A committal service, with military honors, will be at the Florida National Cemetery at 11:30 on Monday, November 4, 2019.
