Obituary of John Patrick John E Patrick, 105, died Sunday April 28, 2013 at Summerfield Suites Assisted Living Facility. John, known as "The Mayor" and The Villages oldest golfer, was formerly from Grove City, Pa and moved to The Villages to live with his son, Jim, in October, 2005. John worked in the engineering department for the Cooper Bessemer Corp. in Grove City and Mount Vernon, Ohio until he retired in 1970. Moving back to Grove City, he started his second career as Director of the Pine Grove Community Center and teaching golf to the local students until he retired again at the age of 95. He enjoyed: being with family, neighbors and friends he has met in his lifetime; dancing, traveling, reading, playing golf, bocce, bowling, Mexican Train, card games and Bingo. John had advanced to the 4th degree of the Knights of Columbus and held the positions of Grand Knight and Treasurer. He enjoyed singing in the Church choirs. John is a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Parish in Wildwood. Survivors include his son Jim and son's wife Mary; sister Elizabeth Arrigo, Pittsburgh, Pa.; six grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Preceding John's death was his wife Mary (Bagnato) January 1988; 3 sisters-Mary, Edith, Ann; and 3 brothers-Andrew, Albert, Carmen. A visitation will be held in Florida at the Lady Lake Chapel of Beyers Funeral Home on_Wednesday, May 1, 2103 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a rosary service following the visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at 8:30 AM at St. Vincent de Paul Church , 5195 E. County Rd 462, Wildwood, Father Ron Oser celebrant. A Memorial Service and interment will be held in Grove City, Pa. for John's relatives and friends at a later time.
