Joan Marlene Gardiner

GARDINER, Joan (Heaton) - Born October 20, 1942, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 8, 2018, with her husband and daughter by her side. Predeceased by her first husband Clifford O. Heaton in 2007 and son Clifford "Butch" Heaton in 1976. Joan remarried April 16, 2011 and is survived by her loving husband Dr. Kenneth Gardiner, daughters Christina (Heaton) Mohr (husband Dennis), Lisa (Heaton) Spicer (husband Duane), Gini (Heaton) Summers (husband Lane); sisters Lynn (Edwards) Salmon ( husband John), Kay (Edwards) Carter and brother William Edwards II (wife Rose); Grandchildren- Dennis Mohr II, April (Mohr) Harding, Robert Moody, Elizabeth Moody, Stewart Yousey, Stephen Yousey,Sarah and Nicholas Spicer and four great grandchildren -Elliott and Wallace Harding, Esame Yousey and Collin Yousey. She was one of the original founding members and the church secretary for more than 20 years of Hope Community Church in Hudson, Ohio. After marrying the love of her life Ken in 2011, they moved to Leesburg, FL in 2013 where she and Ken became active members of Grace Bible Baptist Church, Leesburg. Joan put many a smile on faces of the Joy Group with her wonderful meals and amazing desserts. Joan was a truly faithful servant of the Lord with a heart bigger than her person, always willing to open her home, cook a meal, and provide loving encouragement to those in need. Joan "Baby" as she was known by Ken; mom, grandma and sister will be missed by those remaining behind. But, we who remain will continue her legacy and share the love of Jesus with all we encounter and rejoice that she is with Jesus now and knowing that we will be reunited in Heaven some day in accordance with God's perfect plan. Our family wishes to thank Shanell, our visiting angel from Compassionate Care Hospice for her love and unwavering service to mom in her last days. You were truly a blessing; mom always asked if you were coming back and smiled when we said yes. A celebration of life ceremony will be held at Grace Bible Baptist Church 1703 Lewis Road, Leesburg, FL on Sunday, July 1, 2018 at 2:30 pm. A second celebration of life ceremony will be held at Hope Community Church 3033 Middleton Road, Hudson, OH on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 11 am.
