Faith Anne Hennessey

Faith Anne (Metayer) Hennessey passed away on Saturday, Dec. 16, near her home in Leesburg, Fla., at age 77. A celebration of life will be held at St. Paul Catholic Church in Leesburg at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 6. Burial will follow at Lone Oak Cemetery. It is requested that thoughtful donations in her honor be made to her alma mater: Truesdale Hospital Nurses Alumnae Association, ? Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 9215, Fall River, MA 02720. She worked as a nurse for more than 30 years, moving to live in several places across the country: West Chester, Pennsylvania; Coolville, Ohio; Charleston, West Virginia, as well as the Florida cities of Miami, Fort Myers, Davenport, Melbourne and Leesburg. Faith was born Oct. 2, 1940 in Fall River, Massachusetts, the daughter of George and Eileen Metayer. She married Gerald Hennessey on May 12, 1962, in Little Compton, R.I., and they were married 47 years prior to his death on Dec. 4, 2009. Faith is survived by three daughters: Pamela Hennessey of Newnan, Georgia; Suzanne Hennessey of Palm Harbor, Fla.; and Elizabeth Gisondi of Charleston, Illinois.; seven grandchildren: Alexandra Sanz-Guerrero of Newport, R.I., Andy Sanz-Guerrero of Culpeper, Virginia; David Tingley of Tampa, Fla.; Kristen and Sarah Gisondi of Charleston, Ill; Abby and Randi Tripka of Palm Harbor, Fla.; two sisters: Eileen Stocklinski of Watkinsville, Ga., and Joyce Metayer of Ajijic, Mexico; a brother, George Metayer, of Tiverton, R.I.; a son-in-law, Joe Gisondi of Charleston, Ill.; three brothers-in-law: Andy Stocklinski of Watkinsville, Ga., Don Lanoue of Mexico and Dale Hennessey of Davenport, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Donna Elshonson of Adamsville, R.I; granddaughter-in-law Shelby Sanz-Guerre. Faith was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Kimberly Tingley, and sisters Colette Ulrich and Mary Vogel. Faith loved to help family, friends and strangers, although few people remained mere acquaintances after spending time with her. She was active at St. Paul's Catholic Church where she served as a cantor, a singer in the Resurrection Choir, a member of the Council of Catholic Women, and as both a hospital minister and eucharistic minister, tending to the sick. She volunteered for numerous service and charity events at Holiday Travel Resort, where she vigilantly helped friends with chores, errands and personal challenges. And, of course, she was devoted to her family whom she adored - a deep love that was reciprocated. Faith loved to sing and perform on stage and equally enjoyed seeing live theater performances. In addition, she loved to camp, play cards and travel. A few years ago, she fulfilled a lifelong dream of visiting Jerusalem. Faith will be always be in our hearts now and forever more.
