Obituary of Dorothea Lambourne Dorothea Winton West Lambourne was born on October 16, 1911 to Marie and Charley Winton, at the home of her maternal grandparents, in Belleview, Florida. She went home to be with the Lord on December 5, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-nine years, James Walton West. She is survived by two daughters, Patricia (Douglas) Rickles and Sandra (Tommy) Bryan, five grandchildren, Stacey Rickles of St. Petersburg, Doug Rickles of Tampa, Kelly Bryan of Bushnell, Christopher Bryan of Clermont and Craig Bryan of Orlando,and five great grandchildren, Hannah, Will and Hailey Rickles and Abby and Olivia Bryan. After ten years of being a widow, Dot remarried and is survived by her husband, John Joseph Lambourne. They celebrated their nineteenth wedding anniversary in June. Through Dot's marriage to John, she gained new family, daughter, Susan (Jack) Noell of Sumterville, son, Chuck (Valerie) Hercal of Tavares, grandson, Tanner (Alicia) Sizemore and their daughter, Hadley of Wildwood, as well as many other much loved family members from both marriages. Dot graduated as salutatorian from Bushnell High School in 1929. She attended Florida Southern College, received her teaching certificate and taught school for ten years, all in Sumter County, including Center Hill Elementary, Webster Elementary, and Lake Panasoffkee Elementary. She enjoyed painting, ceramics and flower arranging. She was devoted to her family and for the past fifty years has been known by everyone as Mama Dot. She was very active in the 1st United Methodist Church of Bushnell, holding a number of positions and acting as the chairman of the Prayer Chain into her 100th year. Except for brief stays in Palmetto and Bradenton, Dot lived her entire life in Bushnell, living in the same house for seventy-seven years. Throughout her life, Dot was happy and productive spending her time as a wife, mother, grandmother and active church and community member. She will be remembered with love for her devotion to her family, friends and church.
