David "Davie" Gene Demonbreun

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of David Gene Demonbreun. David or Davie as he was affectionately called by friends and family died peacefully in his home surrounded by loved ones on January 11th 2023. Davie was preceded by his parents David and Deleda Demonbreun and his Brother Darrell Demonbreun. He is survived by his wife Ginger, his 3 children Teresa Mendez, Anthony Demonbreun and Michael Demonbreun and their spouses, Noel Mendez, Lexi Demonbreun and Diana Fey Demonbreun, respectively. David also leaves behind 7 grandchildren. Davie was born in Hialeah, Florida on August 30th, 1953. He was the third child of five. As a child Davie loved being outdoors fishing, boating, and being on dirt roads. He studied the older mechanics to learn about cars and his father spent time on the track and building race cars. Davie had always been a hardworking man, turning wrenches on cars since the age of 11, and going on to operate crews and manage garages by 13. Davie worked to help support his mother and younger siblings. He loved spending time with his cousins, Debra, Donna, Della and Darlene and their Father, Marvin Smith. Davie enjoyed going fast. From Miami to New Jersey, he built and tested track cars for many notable race crews. Davie met Ginger in 1981 and they welcomed their three children over the next decade. Davie worked as an Automotive Technician, with experience on every make and model you could imagine. He wasn’t a fan of European cars, and worked on many Mazda Rx-7’s, but his favorite was the American V8. Davie was highly skilled, a brilliant craftsman and superb engineer. He was honest and warm, but dependable and direct. Every week, he seemed to turn more hours than humanly possible. Competition was an enormous part of his work. Throughout his career Davie would constantly outperform (by a longshot) his peers. He was a man who always had a joke! Davie was a man who always had wisdom or simply an ear to listen. Davie knew his time was limited. He was deeply reflective in his latest years. He was quite content finding himself doing things he loved; driving, exploring backroads of Florida, his home state. Going to estate sales, wood fracking, building things like model cars or cigar box guitars, and most importantly spending time with loved ones. Towards the end he sprinted. He ran this race like he would any other; to the finish line. Davie will be missed by all. Celebration of life to be held on Saturday, January 21st 2023 at The Venetian Center Located at 1 Dozier Court Leesburg, FL 34748.11:00AM to 2:00PM. There will also be a mass on Monday January 23rd at 8:30AM at St Paul Catholic Church in Leesburg FL. Arrangements entrusted to Beyers Funeral Home of Leesburg, Florida.
