Betty Brown

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend, Betty Brown. She went peacefully to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of July 24, 2018, surrounded by family. Betty was 97 years old. She married the love of her life in 1944 and was married for 70 years prior to his death. She raised 6 children and was always a wonderful example as a wife, mother and Christian woman. She was a great cook, loved canning vegetables and fruits, and was a nurse for many years taking great care of her patients and the community. She was a member of the Bay Lake Missionary Baptist Church and faithfully served her church and community for many years. The stories of how she has touched so many lives are endless. She left us with so many special memories and will always be our precious angel in Heaven. As the poem says, "God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be. So He put his arms around you and whispered "Come to Me". With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you fade away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest. God took you home to prove to us, He only takes the best". Betty was born in Cullman, Alabama on December 9, 1920. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hillary and Minnie Hyatt, her husband, George DeVon Brown, son, Mitchell Brown and many brothers and sisters. She is survived by daughters Zelda Newnam (Jim) of Summerfield, Florida; Elaine Hubbell (Glenn) of Groveland, Florida; Pam Thacker (Henry) of Clermont, Florida; Bev Coble (Larry) of Winter Garden, Florida; son Danny Hyatt (Debbie) of Clermont, Florida; daughter-in-law Charlotte Brown of Groveland, Florida; sister-in-law Lois Maguire of Asheville, North Carolina; 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, July 27, 2018 at Bay Lake Missionary Baptist Church. A viewing will start at 10:00 am at the church. The interment at the Bay Lake Cemetery will follow the funeral services.
