Shirley C Leuchars

October 5, 1927 - January 5, 2022

Shirley Carn Leuchars passed away peacefully on January 5, 2022, in Lady Lake, Florida. She was 94. Shirley was born in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, on October 5, 1927, the daughter of the late Charles R. and Mildred (Thomas) Carn. Her family relocated to Naugatuck, Connecticut, in 1932 where she made her home until moving to Dunedin, Florida, in 1989 and then to Lady Lake, Florida, in 1997. Shirley was the wife of the late William G. Leuchars. Shirley and Bill were married on April 24, 1948 in Naugatuck, Connecticut. They had two children, Keith and Kim. Shirley is survived by her son Keith Leuchars and daughter-in-law Gail, of Lynn, Massachusetts; and daughter Kim Carse and son-in-law James of Cary, North Carolina. She had two grandchildren: granddaughter Lauren Reid and her husband Chase, and their daughters Sadie and Finley; and grandson Kyle Carse and his wife Leslie, and their daughter Elsie. She is survived by her brother Richard and his wife Katie. Shirley was predeceased by her brothers, Charles and Thomas Carn and sister, Judith Vitale. She also had several nieces and nephews. Throughout the years Shirley worked as secretary to the former Naugatuck Mayor Joseph Raykiewicz; dental assistant for Dr. Hans H. Griesbach; and medical assistant and office manager for Dr. William E. Hill, Jr. Shirley was highly active in St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Naugatuck serving as choir mother, Sunday school teacher, and vice president of the Thursday Nighter's Women's Group. As she requested, Shirley will be cremated, and services will be private.
