Ruth F. Metzler

January 26, 1924 - February 26, 2022

Ruth F. Metzler, loving wife of the late Harry B. Metzler Jr. for 75 years, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2022 at the age of 98 at Lake Port Square Health Care Center in Leesburg, Florida. Ruth was born on January 26, 1924 in Dover NJ to William and Ellen (Meloskie) Murtha. Ruth worked as a secretary for 24 years for the Department of the Army at Picatinny Arsenal in Morris County NJ (where she met her beloved husband). Ruth and Harry retired to Mt Dora FL for a few years before relocating to Hawthorne at Leesburg in 1985. Ruth enjoyed playing games of all sorts, including cards, dominoes, and Mahjong. She will be remembered for her kind, compassionate disposition and sweet smile. She easily made friends with everyone she met. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital, the Shriners Hospitals for Children, or Wounded Warrior Project in her name. Services will be held at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, FL at a date to be determined.
