Robert Seaver Mueller went to his heavenly Father on January 11, 2022. Born on June 17, 1937 in St. Louis, Missouri, Rob was the son of the late Walter and Alberta Mueller. He had an idyllic childhood growing up in Normandy, Missouri among family and friends. He attended Bel-Nor Elementary, Normandy High School and graduated from Washington University at St. Louis with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Early achievements included attaining the rank of Eagle Scout (BSA), and an award for automotive design from the Fisher Body Craftsman's Guild, a competition for aspiring automotive engineers and designers. Following college he received a Masters Degree in Automotive Engineering from Chrysler Institute in Highland Park Michigan. Rob met his wife, Kay, at Metropolitan Methodist Church in Detroit. Rob and Kay were married in Davison, Michigan on September 16, 1961. Rob was a quiet, unassuming man who had a very inventive mind. He could fix nearly anything. He enjoyed music and played the saxophone, piano, and other instruments. Rob loved Lionel model trains and accumulated an extensive collection, and built layouts to operate the trains. He enjoyed downhill skiing, bicycling, sailing and boating , golf, and spending time with family and friends. Rob enjoyed antique cars, owning or restoring two Model T Fords and a Model A roadster. His 1914 Model T Touring is currently owned by The Henry Ford in Dearborn, Michigan. In retirement, Rob was active with volunteer groups including the St. Clair Historical Museum, Huron Lightship Museum, tall ship Highlander Sea, and a tutoring program through the St. Clair United Methodist Church. Rob was active in the various United Methodist Churches he was a member of, including choir, and a role with the United Methodist Men in Spring Hill, Florida. Rob's career with Eaton Corporation in Research and Development was very productive for the company, and very personally rewarding for him. He had 37 patents registered with his name for a wide-ranging variety of automotive mechanical and electronic devices, incorporated into trucks and cars from many manufacturers. Among other awards and achievements, Robert was awarded the Henry Ford II Distinguished award for Excellence in Automotive Engineering from the Society of Automotive Engineering (SAE). Rob is survived by wife Kay, sons Kevin Mueller(Nancy) and Cameron W Mueller (Mandy) and daughter Molli McCarthy (Mike) . Also survived by Grandsons Cameron L Mueller (Jessica) , Cory Mueller (Conner), and Carson Mueller, grandson Patrick McCarthy (Olivia),grandaughter Kayla McCarthy, and great grandchildren Cora and Ronnie Mueller, Gabriella, Maria, Pascale, and Blaise McCarthy. Also survived by sister June Mueller Banta, Niece, Brenda Williams(Mike) and Bert Banta (Darrell) and Brad Banta ( Kathleen).
