Nancy Violet Evans

August 6, 1933 - September 15, 2018

Nancy Violet Evans, age 85 of The Villages, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 12th after a lengthy illness at Cornerstone Hospice in The Villages. Nancy was born on August 6, 1933 in Sewickley, PA. to Paul and Mary Van Arsdel. After meeting at a church youth group picnic in Sewickley, she married her husband David in October, 1952, and they shared 63 wonderful years together until David passed away in October, 2015. Together they raised 5 boys: Paul Jeffrey (Beth, predeceased in 2016) of Davie, FL, Gary Alan (Jeanette) of Yahala, FL, Thomas Lewis II (Susan) of Lake Worth, FL, David John Jr. of Arizona, and William Andrew (Michelle) of Inverness, FL. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren; Shanon and Ashley (Jeff), Joshua and Annie (Gary), Matthew, Erik, Sarah, and Norah (Thomas), Christopher (David Jr), Jessika and Katie (Bill), as well as 10 great grandchildren. Nancy was predeceased by her sister Mary. Nancy spent her childhood years in Sewickley, and after marriage lived in several towns in Western PA before moving the family to Plantation, FL in 1973. After raising her boys, Nancy went back to work at American Express in Plantation, FL. Nancy and David moved to The Villages in 1996 after retirement. Nancy enjoyed all of the wonderful aspects of The Villages lifestyle, including golf, evenings on the square, restaurants, and also enjoyed rich friendships throughout the years. She was an active charter member of St. George's Episcopal Church in The Villages. Nancy was a high school basketball player, and enjoyed athletic endeavors throughout her adult life, including golf, tennis, swimming, and even square dancing for a time. She always had an open door policy at her home and welcomed many friends and relatives thru the years, including a daily happy hour! We will dearly miss our mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and sister-in-law and she was also a great friend to many throughout the years. A memorial service will be held at St. George's Episcopal Church in The Villages on Saturday, September 15th at 11:00 AM. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, donations will gladly be accepted for St. George's Episcopal Church, or Cornerstone Hospice in The Villages.
