John Federspiel, Jr.
Our loving, committed, role model, John Federspiel Jr, passed away peacefully at the age of 90 on July 10, 2017 in Orlando, Florida. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he attended Northeast High School and Temple University. He was the devoted husband of Miriam R. (nee Tees) for 67 years, who survives him. He is also survived by son John C. Federspiel (Judith McQuade) of Cortlandt Manor, New York and daughter Miriam Weinberger (David) of Cortlandt Manor, New York, and three grandsons Chris Federspiel, Gregory Federspiel, and Andrew Federspiel, and his brother Robert Federspiel. Pre-deceased by sisters Catherine McConnell and Mary Asztalos, and parents John and Mary Federspiel. An accident in his youth prevented him from participation in sports but he was a lifelong Eagles and Phillies fan. He operated taverns in Philadelphia for 25 years and then worked for the City of Philadelphia, achieving the position of Deputy Commissioner of Procurement. John & Miriam retired in 1991 to The Villages, Florida. He enjoyed golfing and participation as a leader in his church. John will forever be remembered for his integrity, common sense approach and sense of humor. His cremains will be interred in Philadelphia at a later date.
