Obituary of David Putnam David G. Putnam, 74, of The Villages, Fl died April 14, 2010. He was born April 12, 1936 in Warren, PA. He was a US Army Veteran. He was a staff writer for the Evening Gazette Newspaper in Indiana, PA. and a sports editor for Punxsutawney Spirit Newspaper. He moved to the Villages, Fl in 2004 from Punxsutawney, PA. He attended the New Covenant United Methodist Church, the Villages, FL. member of The Penn State Club of The Villages, former member of the Western Pennsylvania Newspaper Guild. He was an avid sports fan especially Penn State sports and Pittsburgh Steelers. He enjoyed playing golf, swimming, reading at The Villages Library and spending time with family, especially his wife, son and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife; Rosalie, son; Stephen (Michelle) Putnam of Harman, WV, grandson; Nicholas Putnam of Harman, WV, granddaughter; Sophia Putnam, of Harman, WV. Memorial service will be held Monday, April 19, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Beyers Funeral Home Chapel, Lady Lake, FL with minister Glenwood Browley officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 1:00 to 2:00 PM one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at Florida National Cemetery, Friday April 23, 2010 at 11:00 AM with full military honors conducted by Spring Hill Marine Corps Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Punxsutawney Memorial Library, 301 East Mahoning St. Punxsutawney, PA or the New Covenant United Methodist Church, 3470 Woodridge Dr., The Villages, Fl. Visitation Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 1:00 to 2:00 PM one hour prior to the service.
