Carol J. Rood

October 14, 1940

Carol J. Rood, aka "CJ", 78, passed away Saturday March 2nd, 2019 at the Cornerstone Hospice home in The Villages FL from complications with cancer. Carol was preceded in death by her father, BT Jones and mother Margaret "Mousie" Jones. She is survived by husband Richard "Dick" Rood and her 8 cats, brother Greg Jones and his spouse Dedra, son Randy Thomas, granddaughter Chrystal Thomas and great grandsons Caleb and Blake Riehlman. Carol was originally from Cortland and Groton NY where she worked for Cortland County for 10 years. Carol received a business degree from Powelson Business Institute in Syracuse NY. BT Jones (father) owned Jones Jewelry in Cortland where Carol worked with her Dad for over 10 years. Carol and Dick moved to Fruitland Park FL in 1995. Soon after, Carol opened CJ's Jewelry Store in Leesburg FL until her retirement in 2007. Carol went to Stewart's International School for jewelry repair in 1998 so you could always take your jewelry to her for questions/repairs/batteries/engraving and the like. You could always count on her opinion and expertise. Carol was a true cat lover/rescuer and has had many cats in her lifetime. When Carol was younger back in NY, she also had a love for horses. Carol would respectfully help people in need as well, with her wise and yet compassionate heart. You could ask Carol about almost anything with numbers as she was very good and quick to pull the number out of her head. Character, she could quickly read a person and in one short sentence tell you what you need to know, short and smart was her response. Carol also enjoyed antique cars and convertibles. A private interment will take place at a later date in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Leesburg FL.
