Carl Hugh Martin

December 4, 1946 - March 3, 2022

Carl H. Martin passed away on March 3rd, 2022 in Lady Lake, Florida at the age of 75 after a prolonged hospitalization for congestive heart failure. Carl now joins his beloved wife Joyce in heaven. Carl was a proud father, grandfather, brother and uncle, a generous friend, and an active member of the church and community. He loved the game of golf and spending time with friends on the local courses as well as many golf trips over the years. Carl enjoyed plenty of Gator football Saturdays with friends as a member of the Leesburg Quarterback Club. Carl was born December 4, 1946 in Eustis, Florida to Hugh and Azalee Martin. He grew up as an Army Brat living in numerous countries around the world and many States in the US, landing in Leesburg to finish out his high school years. Carl graduated from Leesburg High School in 1964, then was off to Auburn University where he played on the golf team and was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity. After PGA Golf Academy in West Palm and earning membership in the PGA, Carl took a job as the Assistant Pro at Tippecanoe Country Club in Canfield, Ohio. Carl then sold securities for John Hancock in Youngstown, Ohio and Buffalo, New York. After returning to Florida, Carl joined his brother David to own and manage Martin's Lock Shop in Leesburg. Finally, Carl was proud to work as a Realtor at ERA Grizzard Real Estate in Leesburg since 2003. Carl is survived by his daughter Sheri (John) Mitten, Cary NC; son Brad (Debbie) Martin, Gainesville, FL; grandchildren, Matthew and Nathan Mitten, Patrick and Emily Martin; brother, Tom (Terry) Martin, Birmingham, AL; and brother David Martin. Carl was preceded in death by the love of his life, wife of 38 years, Joyce Martin, along with his parents Hugh and Azalee Martin, and sister June. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 12, 2022 at GraceWay Church, 10200 Morningside Dr, Leesburg, FL.
