William "Bill" Hamrick

William (Bill) Hamrick passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024 at the age of 87. Bill was born in West Palm Beach, Florida on June 24, 1936. He later moved to and grew up in Webster, Florida where he attended Webster High School. He joined the Air Force in 1954. After being honorably discharged from the Air Force he met and married Jane (Keller) Hamrick and had 3 children, Scott, Angela, and Chris. In 1970 he moved to Fort Pierce, Florida where he resided until his passing. He is preceded in death by his son, Chris Hamrick, his brother and sister-in-law, Wally and Elsie Hamrick and his parents, Lois Gideons and Wallace Hamrick, Sr. He is survived by his son, Scott (Kristie) Hamrick, his daughter, Angela (Paul) Davis, six grandchildren, Kailey (Chase) Davis, Bill Davis, Chris (Ashley) Hamrick, Amy Hamrick, Zac Hamrick and Alex Davis. And two great grandchildren, Ryder and Knox Davis. As well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Bill was a salesman for meat companies, like Copeland and Sunnyland for most of his life. He traveled all through the state of Florida and there wasn’t a back road that he didn’t know about. He was one of the few true Florida natives and could tell you about Florida when it was mostly orange groves and cattle country. He played golf with his brother, Wally and his oldest son, Scott. He was a die-hard Florida Gator fan and cheered them on at the Swamp since the 1950’s. Until Wally’s passing, he waited for his call after every Florida/FSU game, whether the outcome was in his favor or not. He was a Miami Dolphin fan and rooted for them every year. Bill enjoyed racing and attended many Nascar races as a Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Kevin Harvick fan. He had an annual dirt race trip to Volusia County with his youngest son, Chris, that he kept going with Scott and Angie after Chris’ passing. Being a southern country boy, Bill and Angie became rodeo and bull riding fans. They enjoyed their annual trips to Okeechobee, Indiantown and the County fair to watch the cowboys ride the bulls.Bill was an avid story teller. He loved to talk to whoever would listen and tell about his many adventures in the Air Force while he was stationed in Guam. He told his grandchildren that is where he lost all his hair when he stuck his head out of the airplane and how he kept a pet iguana on a leash while stationed there. Or his many adventures in Webster, growing up in the country, doing things only boys can do. Like tying his friend to a tree and leaving them there or aggravating the bull in the stall at the Farmers Market to scare his mother. He liked to tell of all the people he met and adventures he had driving around the state of Florida, once while delivering hot dogs he got to take a tour of Burt Reynolds ranch with Burt’s dad and see the Bandit car. Bill was an adventurous person and never wanted to sit still for too long. He loved his family and wouldn’t hesitate to do something for anyone if they asked. His last weekend was the annual trip to Volusia County Speedway. It was a great night with perfect weather and Scott, Angie, and Paul were there to enjoy it with him. Now he is reunited with Chris who is probably taking him fishing. Or maybe catching up with Wally about the Florida Gators and FSU while playing a round of golf. He had a good and full life and will be missed by all who knew him. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at 10:30 AM at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Webster, Florida.
