William Colborne

Obituary of William Colborne William Donald "Don" Colborne went to heaven on December 25, 2010. He was born in Emory, Georgia on January 24, 1930 as the first born son of Frederick and Nell Colborne. He was predeceased by sister Barbara Ann Bee and brother Robert Alan Colborne. Don was a very proud United States Marine who served in the Korean War and the Vietnam Conflict and retired as a Master Sergeant after 22 years of active service. He married Frances Eucharia Burke in 1954 and shared 56 years of marriage. Their marriage was an incredible partnership and example of two people becoming one as they raised their family of two daughters Barbara Ellen Colborne of Arnold, MD and Sharon Colborne Mahaffey (Husband -Jay) of Millersville, MD and three sons, David Frederick Colborne (Wife-Sheryl) of Severna Park , MD, Kevin Michael Colborne (Wife-Robin) of Leesburg, FL and Brian Donald Colborne (Wife-Kelli) of Okahumpka, FL. Grandchildren include Kara and Kasey Colborne, Stephen, Jathan, Eric and Caleb Mahaffey, Grant, Logan, Delanie, Spencer and Harrison Colborne, and Kaitlyn and Jonathan Colborne. Following the "Blizzard of 1979", Don and Fran moved from Glen Burnie, Maryland to Eustis, Florida, along with various family members to start a new life as owner and operator of The Furniture Hospital and Quality Upholstery located in Dona Vista, Florida. Don was an avid woodworker and loved restoring distressed furniture to its original condition as well as building family heirlooms from scratch. He especially enjoyed turning beautiful shapes on the lathe and sharing them with family, friends and loved ones in his life. This tall and proud man, with a generous soul, was a devoted husband of 56 years to "Effy". His five children and 13 grandchildren were his greatest source of pride, His bear-hugs will be remembered. He loved animals and will be especially missed by "Ms. Molly-Welsh Corgie", ever-faithful companion. Don, Fran and all of the family would like to express our appreciation for friends and neighbors who expressed their love in their participation in his life on earth. To those who shared in their faith and relationship with Jesus Christ, please know that he accepted and embraced Jesus as his personal lord and savior and was reborn on Christ's birthday, December 25th, 2010. Services His memorial service will be held at Beyers Funeral Home in Umatilla, FL on Friday December 31st, 2010 at 2:00 PM.
