Virginia "Ginny" Blatt McCarraher

Virginia “Ginny” Blatt McCarraher went home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 20, 2024. She ran an amazing race and finished well at age 94. Faith, family, and friends defined her life. She was a true servant of the Lord! Throughout her life, she contributed her time, talent, and resources to her local church and passed on a beautiful legacy of faith to family and friends. Ginny was born Virginia Rose Blatt on March 13, 1930 in Mont Clare, PA. She married Harry McCarraher in 1950 and together they left the cold weather and headed to South Florida where they raised their two children. They built a new home in Howey in the Hills after retiring in 1997. This began a new chapter in their life volunteering for 25 years at First Baptist Church Leesburg. Ginny was always on the go, traveling with family and friends to all 50 states, most of Europe, and parts of South America and Asia. Cruising the seas was her favorite vacation excursion. When home, you would find her planning a party. From hosting family get-togethers, holiday feasts, rehearsal dinners and post wedding breakfasts, Sunday School parties, and don’t forget bridge nights, she made entertaining look effortless. In her spare time, Ginny was either reading, on the computer, or doing needlework. She cross-stitched beautiful pictures and knitted multiple sweaters for each family member as well as blankets for each new baby, afghans and sweaters for charity, and hundreds of baby booties for the local hospital. She is survived by her son, Harry “Mac” McCarraher (Kimberly Jo) and daughter, Janet Ruppert (Brad); grandchildren Brian, Brad, and Brandon McCarraher, Katelyn Barnett; great grandchildren, Hunter, Christina, Mason, Greyson, Jamison, Riggs, and Finn. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mathias Bunting and Rose Olivia Blatt, her husband, Harry, and her brothers, Russell and Donald. Planner and organizer extraordinaire, no doubt Ginny is now hosting friends and family to a heavenly banquet and game night! Until we see you again….you will forever be in our hearts. Visitation will take place at the downtown campus of First Baptist Church Leesburg on November 1, 2024 from 1 – 2 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life Service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church Leesburg, 220 N 13th St., Leesburg, FL 34748 in Ginny's memory. Arrangements entrusted to Beyers Funeral Home of Leesburg, Florida.
