Thomas Olney Felkins

Thomas Olney Felkins, age 73, of Lady Lake, Florida, passed away on September 2, 2026. Thomas was born January 26, 1953, in Leesburg, FL, to Martin Vernon and Nelda Miller Felkins. He was a 1972 graduate of Leesburg High School, where he later spent many years driving the band truck, all the kids knew him as “Mr. Tom” — one small example of a lifelong habit of showing up for others. He worked for Henry Mitchem Equipment for 35 years, building a career defined by hard work and dependability. Above all, Thomas was a family man. He cherished his wife Jan of 54 years, and there was nothing he loved more than time with his grandchildren. Those who knew him will remember a man who was willing to help anyone, anytime, no matter the circumstances — the kind of man who would truly give you the shirt off his back. He had a God given gift for caring, helping and taking care of others. His generosity was matched only by his warmth, and he made a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to cross his path. Thomas was active in his church, faithfully serving in the nursery and working with the youth. He loved watching Florida Gator football with his son, Josh, enjoyed heading out for breakfast, and always had the television on for a good show. His easy company and steady kindness made him a joy to be around. Thomas is survived by his beloved wife, Jan Felkins; his son, Joshua Felkins (Lady Lake); his daughter, Brooke Burns (Jason Bailey); grandchildren Grayson, Paisley, Avery and Ledger Thomas Bailey soon to arrive; several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law Frances Hardy, Phyllis Morris, and Joyce Loew and his adopted sister Gail Moore. He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law, JD Cosson, Sr.; his mother-in-law, Lottie Tims; his sister, Wanda Atkinson; his sister-in-law, Jeanette Bramlitt; and his brothers-in-law, JD Cosson and Sandy Cosson. Thomas will be deeply missed by all who loved him, and his generous spirit and devotion to family will remain a lasting part of his legacy. A visitation will be held at Beyers Funeral Home, 1123 W Main St, Leesburg, FL on Tuesday September 8, 2026 from 6-8 PM. Funeral Services will follow on Wednesday September 9, 2026 beginning at 11 AM with Interment to follow at Grand Island Cemetery, Grand Island, FL.
