Obituary of Terry Martin Terry Owen Martin of Lady Lake, Florida passed in peace on Wednesday, December 7, 2016, at the Villages Regional Hospital. Born in 1934 in Carlinville, Illinois to Glenn and Dorothy Martin, he grew up with his brother Don in Litchfield, Illinois. Terry attended college at Southern Illinois University. He later served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. Terry had a long and successful career as a Distribution Manager at the Pillsbury Company for 35 years with most of his time spent at the New Albany plant. His job also brought him to Atlanta, Georgia and Minnetonka, Minnesota. He was always well-versed in current events and loved a good political discussion. He was a great neighbor, known for his positive attitude and sincere concern for others. Terry was so proud of his children and grandchildren and always looked forward to time and conversations with them. Terry was a Christian, who trusted in Jesus Christ as his Savior, and attended North Lake Presbyterian Church in Lady Lake, Florida. He retired to Lady Lake, Florida, where he pursued his golf game with a passion, always relishing a martini at the 19th hole. He and Madalyn traveled many wonderful places together, including Europe, the Caribbean, Canada and Mexico, and Alaska. Up until the day he fell ill, Terry enjoyed daily walks with his dog Winnie, serving in the Operation Homebound ministry at his church, and watching a variety of sports especially golf on television. Terry is preceded in death by his first wife of 32 years, Carolyn Martin, and his brother, Don Martin. He is survived by the second love of his life, his wife of 25 years, Madalyn Taylor Martin; his children: Scott Martin (Patrice) in Lake Forest, CA; Suzanne Martin-Hand (David) in Winter Haven, Florida; his stepsons: Allen Taylor (Ann) in Punta Gorda, Florida and Doug Taylor in Lady Lake, Florida; his grandchildren: Travis Martin, Quinn Martin, Jessie Landsman (Eli), Roxanne Martin, Schuyler Hand (fiancée Emily), and Nick Paden; as well as his sisters in-law, brothers in-law and many nephews, nieces and friends. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 14th, at Beyers Funeral Home, 134 North Highway in Lady Lake, Florida. Funeral services will be held at the same location beginning at 11:00 AM. A celebration of Terry's life will be held afterwards at the Harbor Hills Country Club at 6538 Lake Griffith Rd in Lady Lake, Florida. Terry will be laid to rest on Wednesday, December 21 in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany, Indiana. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on December 21 at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Terry's name to the American Heart Association, at 1101 Northchase Pkwy, Suite 1, Marietta, GA 30067 or to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73213.
