Obituary for Sherri Lynn Adams Written by her Mother, Judy Byrd On January 31, 2021, my beautiful daughter, Sherri Lynn, was called home to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. There's no sorrows there, no more burdens to bear, no more sickness, no more pain and no more parting over there. What a day, glorious day that was for Sherri! She looked upon His face, the one who saved her by His grace. He took her by the hand and embraced her with His eternal unconditional love - she lives in a mansion now! That was the best day of Sherri's life! Sherri was born June 5, 1965 in Ft. Myers, Florida. We lived there until she was about five years old then we moved to Gainesville, Florida where she grew up and went to school. Sherri moved to Hawthorne, Florida after she was grown and lived there about four years. She then moved to Leesburg and to Fruitland Park, Florida. Sherri is the much-loved, precious daughter of Ralph & Judy Byrd of Leesburg, Florida. When Ralph & I were married, he not only became my husband, he put a ring on Sherri's finger that day as well and became her Daddy from that day forward, truly loving her as his own. She is also the cherished mother of her four wonderful children, Michael Bates, Tiffany Krail (husband Adam), Heather Joiner and Joshua Adams (wife Tabitha). She is also the adored and blessed Grandmother of Lillian Bates, Olivia Bates, Hailey Bates, Alyssa Billings and Matthew Collins. Sherri leaves behind three brothers, Jason Flint, Trey Byrd (wife Jessica) Paul Byrd (wife Rachel) and one sister, Julie Flint. While growing up Sherri enjoyed spending time with family, cousins and friends, roller skating, riding horses, swimming, playing tether ball, and had quite a flair for drawing and colorful artworks. Sherri also loved music. Sherri always had beautiful long hair and very beautiful blue eyes. Sherri's career consisted mostly of being a loving Mother and homemaker which was a fulltime job. However, she did work part time as a DJ for wedding receptions and she also worked for Sonny's restaurant in Leesburg, Florida. Sherri was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking for lots of people, family gatherings, holidays & birthdays. When she cooked - she cooked enough for an army or at least enough for any neighborhood kids who often dropped by. Sherri loved people, was very sociable and made many friends. She had a great personality, she was warm, friendly and laughed easily! Sherri loved children and always had a strong burden to pray for abused children. She even brought some troubled children into her home to live for a while from time to time, as well as some adults who had fallen on hard times. Sherri was a very compassionate, loving and giving person. She had a servant's heart and wanted to help others and give to others. Sherri was loved by many people and she touched their lives in her own unique way as only she could do. Some things that Sherri liked: Big purses - always! They were always stuffed full of important things! To drink out of big glasses! Once while visiting me she asked, "Mom, don't you have any big glasses?" I made it a point to buy some big glasses just for her when she came next time. That made her so happy - I sent one home with her too. LOL! She liked the Florida Gators Football Team & to wear their tee shirts! She watched their games and knew the best players by name. She liked to watch Nascar races and really liked Dale Earnhardt. She liked to go to thrift stores A LOT - and that runs in our family line! Some of Sherri's favorites: Her favorite color was blue - any shade of blue. Her favorite birthday cake was coconut pecan cake - which is vanilla cake with butter cream vanilla icing covered in coconut and pecan pieces. Her favorite beverage was sweet tea, of course, she was so southern! Her favorite foods were crab legs, fried chicken, mashed potatoes & gravy and coleslaw. Her favorite dessert was cheesecake with strawberry or blueberry topping. Her latest favorite television show was Little House on the Prairie (reruns). Her favorite Country Song was "Hello Darling" by Conway Twitty. Her favorite Christian song was "Way Maker" by Leeland. We played that often for her while she was in the hospital. Even after having a stroke, and still on a ventilator, she would raise her one good hand toward heaven and wave it in worship to God when we played that song. Her favorite Bible teacher was Joyce Meyer. Her favorite way to end a conversation on the phone was "Love you mostest, most of all & that means you - got ya!!! I've listed some of Sherri's likes and some of her favorites but now I want to tell you what Sherri loved most of all. She really loved God and the Bible, she really loved her children, she really loved her grandchildren and she really loved her family. Sherri had many difficult struggles throughout her life. She was certainly not perfect and certainly didn't do everything right, but then, who does, except Jesus? In her most difficult times and worst of situations that she went through - she never lost her faith in God and continued to cry out to Him, pick herself up and always try her best to do better than before. When you think of Sherri, please celebrate the good memories you have of her, please forgive her failings and give her credit for her many come-backs in life and for all the good that she did accomplish. Now, her time here on earth is over and she has entered that beautiful eternal city whose builder and maker is God! Sherri will be looking forward to every member of our family and every friend she ever made on earth to join her in heaven someday. It may be just like when she was opening the door of her home in Fruitland Park to her family and friends. She'll hug you and say, come on in, the food is just about ready and the fun has already started, come on in now, I am so glad you came! Sherri will be greatly missed by all who knew her and loved her. As her Mother, I will miss her every day for the rest of my life. I find great comfort in knowing that she is in heaven with Jesus, the Lover of her soul, the One who took our sins upon Himself, who bore our sickness and disease, the One who suffered, bled and died willingly so that we might have eternal life. In heaven there's everlasting life, perfect health, love, joy, peace, music, singing, praise & worship, gates of pearl, walls of jewels, mansions, streets of gold, all our loved ones gone before and multitudes of angels. If Sherri could speak to you today from heaven, I believe she would ask you to please give your heart to Jesus now and make Him Lord of your life if you have not already done so. This life is just a vapor and it passes so quickly, but heaven is forever and I want you to join me here! I will always hold Sherri close in my heart and in my thoughts and try to imagine the wonderful time that she is experiencing in heaven. I will not say goodbye to my precious, beautiful daughter, I will simply say - until we meet again! We are planning a Memorial Service for Sherri, afterward she will be interred at Lone Oak Cemetery in Leesburg, Florida. I will post the date and time for her service when it has been scheduled.
