Robert Lee Wells

Robert Lee Wells of Center Hill, aged 72, passed from this life, to gain victory & complete healing, following his brief care at ORMC, in Orlando and later transported to Select Specialty Hospital, in Oxford, Florida. Robert faced a difficult challenge with cancer and remained steadfast until his Lord and Savior called him home, on Sunday night, November 26, 2023, at 11:53 p.m. Robert was born in Leesburg, Florida and lived a full life. He is survived by his loving Wife, Noma Collins Wells, his next of kin: Brother, Zendal (Cindy) Wells, Sister, Jill (Dennis) Bedgood, Daughter, Nina (Anthony) Cooper, Son, Michael (Danielle) Gonzalez, Daughter Dina (Dillan) Harris and seven Grandchildren: Nevaeh, Trent, Haven, Colton, Dylan, Aiden & Aaliyah. Robert was predeceased by his Parents, Wiley Lee and Jewell Jeanette (Grice) Wells & Brother, Cleveland Wells. Robert has always been known for how attentive and invested he was in those around him. He had the unique ability to recall meaningful details of prior conversations and would check in on you at the next possible opportunity. By trade, Robert enjoyed a lifelong career as a Meat Cutter & later excelled into the meat market manager. For many years, Robert served the warm community of Bushnell, Florida preparing all cuts of meat at Burn’s Market, later Winn-Dixie and retired from Publix, Lake County, on October 25, 2019. Aside from being a devoted Husband, a committed Father, Son, Brother and one who created balance for many, he was a great Friend, and a genuine soul. Robert had a passion for purposeful living & music. He and Noma have been faithful members, at Cross Connection Church, in Bushnell, Florida where they have enjoyed worshipping with their loving extended “family” since, 2017. Robert chose to share his declaration of his faith, in Jesus Christ, in water baptism, by Pastor Crane. Both Noma and Robert attended & graduated, from South Sumter High School, Class of 1970. He was quiet the sportsman and was Lettered his junior & senior years, as Running back, Defensive end #42. Robert also played on the Varsity Basketball Team, #21, his senior year. His love of commitment & discipline continued, when he was promoted, through the ranks to a black belt, in Karate and continued to instruct, at that level. Robert was beautifully well-rounded spiritually, mentally & physically. He will be sorely missed. To Robert, Noma was a “sweet bouquet”, in his daily life. So, in making his wishes known to our family, he shared that in lieu of flowers, he personally would appreciate any contributions of sympathy, be gifted to his loving Wife. A celebration of life memorial & graveside service will be held in Robert’s honor, on Friday, December 15th, 2023 beginning with a time of visitation, from 1:00-2:00 p.m., followed by his ceremony, at 2:00p.m. We will be gathering, at Independent Free Will Baptist Church, of Center Hill and all who loved and shared meaningful moments of Robert’s journey, are welcomed to join us, as we pay tribute to a life well lived. Arrangements have been entrusted to Beyers Funeral Home- Purcell Chapel, Bushnell, Florida.
