Robert Snow

Obituary of Robert Snow Robert E. Snow of Lady Lake, Florida passed away on Monday, October 10, 2011. He was the son of the late Roy and Josephine Snow. He leaves behind his wife, Mary P. (O'Reilly) Snow, a son, Dr. Brian Snow of San Diego, California, a daughter, Kathleen Wilkey and her husband William Wilkey of Fairfax Station, Virginia, two sisters, Barbara Hurd of Henrietta, New York, and Muriel Snow of Quincy, Massachusetts. He was predeceased by a sister, Genevieve Clark of Lebanon, New Hampshire and a brother Roy Snow of Auburn, Maine. Mr. Snow was born in Fryeburg, Maine and educated in the Auburn, Maine schools. Following High School, he joined the US Marine Corps during Word War II at age 17 and serviced with the Occupational Forces in China. Upon discharge, he attended the University of Main and graduated from Bentley School of Accounting. Soon after meeting his wife Mary in Ogunquit, Maine, the couple married on February 23, 1952 and they resided briefly in Portland, Maine prior to moving to Cape Code in 1953 where they lived for 48 years. Mr. Snow was an accountant until his retirement in 1987. He worked for the Doane, Beale and Ames Funeral Service from 1989 until 2000. Bob was a parishioner of Holy Trinity Church in West Harwich, Mass for all 48 years he lived on the Cape, where he also served as a member of the Holy Name Society, assisted as director of many Catholic charities and the Holy Trinity fundraising drives. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Council and President of the PTA for their school. He served as Lector, Lay Eucharistic Minister, and teacher in the religious education program. He was awarded the Marian Medal and he also served on the finance committee for the town of Harwich, Mass. He and his wife enjoyed traveling over the years, touring many countries. They moved to The Villages, a retirement community in Lady Lake, Florida in September 2001 where they enjoyed the many amenities offered. Bob belonged to the Polo Ridge and Cape Cod Clubs and was a member of St. Mark's parish. He leaves behind two grandsons, Matthew Wilkey of Gilbert, Arizona and Robert Wilkey of Lorton, Virginia and several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, October 14, 2011 from 4-7 pm at Morris, O'Connor & Blute Funeral Home, 678 Main St., Harwich Center.
