Obituary of Robert Duncan Robert Duncan, known to most as simply Bob, passed away in his home, surrounded by loved ones, on June 24, 2016, at the age of 73. Raised by loving parents (Elbert and Margaret) on a farm in Central Illinois, he leveraged his Midwestern values to pursue his professional interests in New York and Chicago with AT&T and Merrill Lynch. However, his greatest prize was winning the heart of his consummate teammate and 'tandem stoker,' Marilyn (Dressler) of Naperville, IL, while attending Knox College in Galesburg, IL. In April 2016, they celebrated 48 years of genuine wedded bliss. During that time, they tackled many landscape projects, home improvement efforts, cycling miles (some faster than others...as a couple and with friends), and parenting duties together. Always. Bob is known to many in Hobson Village and Stillwater (Naperville, IL) and Pennecamp (The Villages, FL) as the lawn care guy, jazz lover, ultimate bike mechanic, meticulous car owner, "Marilyn's biggest fan" whenever she was singing, an able set of helping hands, and more recently a friend with cancer to pray for. He actively sought ways to demonstrate love through his actions and outcomes he enabled. His moral strength and steady demeanor served him and others well. His ultimate legacy is generations that he leaves behind. Sons Scott (of Cary, IL) and Jon (of Kennesaw, GA), daughters-in-law Julie (Scott) and Brenda (Jon), and grandchildren Madison & Matthew (Scott) and Stella & A.J. (Jon), who will continually strive to honor his example and look forward to seeing him again. In the meantime, his humor, guidance, and support will be missed. A memorial service will be held at Community United Methodist Church in Fruitland Park on Sunday, June 26, at 6:00 pm. A visitation will be held at Beyers Funeral Home in The Villages/ Lady Lake on Monday, June 27 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Interment will be held at Naperville Cemetery, Naperville, IL at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Bob would greatly appreciate donations be sent to Community United Methodist Church in Fruitland Park, FL. He is a big fan of their ministry and community impact.
