Obituary of Richard Winkle Richard Allen Winkle, 75, of Groveland, FL, passed away November 5, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer. His battle was our battle. We fought together! He was born on September 8, 1938, in Hillsboro, Ohio one of six children of the late Allen Therman and Lola Ruth Winkle; brothers Larry, Bud and Bill; and sisters, Fay Farner and Phyllis Danyi. He was married to Cindy L. Bosworth-Winkle. They became soul mates after their first date February 29, 1980, and married June 28, 1986. He served in the U. S. Army as an Artillery Operator from November 25, 1961 until November 26, 1963. He made a thirty plus year career in underground utility retiring from H. C. Connell, Inc. prior to joining his wife, Cindy, and daughter, Megan, in their family-owned business, Our House Child Development Center in Clermont which they established in 1999. He joined Leesburg Lodge No. 58, Free and Accepted Masons, in 1994, Leesburg Chapter 84, Order of the Eastern Star, in 1996, and was also very active with the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls in Mt. Dora, FL. Dick was the ultimate 'Jack-of-all-Trades' and lent a hand to anyone in need. He was also known as a connoisseur of BBQ. He enjoyed hunting and fishing but above all enjoyed spending time with family and friends sharing his countless stories and favorite memories. Dick was survived by his wife, Cindy; daughter, Megan, her husband Chayse, and grandson, Xander Matthew Neal of Minneola, FL; daughter, Stormie, her husband Billy, grandson, Lee, his wife Janna, and great granddaughter, Ava Grace Bigham of Marianna, FL. Friends may call Saturday, November 9th at Beyers Funeral Home in Leesburg, FL from 4:00 until 7:00pm with a service Sunday, November 10th at 3:00pm. Including Masonic Rites. Burial will be Tuesday, November 12th at 10:00am at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cornerstone Hospice, 2445 Lane Park Road, Tavares, FL 32778. Visitation Friends may call Saturday, November 9th at Beyers Funeral Home in Leesburg, FL from 4:00 until 7:00pm. Services A service will be Sunday, November 10th at 3:00pm, including Masonic Rites. Interment Burial will be Tuesday, November 12th at 10:00am at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
