Pauline Sheila Davis

Pauline Sheila Davis was born in Dublin, Ireland on June 29th 1950, and died on August 19th 2026, at her home, in Leesburg, FL. She was the first of four children of Sheila Teresa Dennehy, an artist, crafter, and homemaker, and Michael Thomas Davis, an attorney, fisherman, and mesmerizing storyteller. She learned flexibility, adaptability, and the gift of easygoing gab, while moving with her family from Ireland, to Canada, to the United States, where they settled. She was raised, baptized in, and received Holy Communion in the Roman Catholic Church, and was educated through the Catholic School system, graduating from Bishop McDevitt High School in Glenside, PA, and participating in some additional college education in Ireland. She married James B Potter, and together they had one daughter, Jennifer Rebecca Potter, of Colorado Springs, Colorado. They later divorced. Professionally, she was a successful commercial and residential real estate broker, commercial window and large space decorator, saleswoman, and home health care. Unofficially, but no less impressively, she was a house restorer, interior decorator, an avid master gardener, and a lover of all sorts of things that crawled, swam, buzzed, flew, and barked. She was warm, spunky, intelligent, and spirited, and made things beautiful around her wherever she went. She enjoyed fresh Colonial-American color palettes, rustic French Country interiors, graceful French Impressionism, Milan Fashion, big handbags, red lipstick, jingly bracelets, flowers, and excelled in aesthetics with creative and whimsical details. She enjoyed fine and primitive art, opera, jazz, and rock, was a voracious reader of all kinds of books, newspapers, and media (particularly murder mysteries), and could not only read building plans, shoot, and tie her own fishing lures, but sew, crochet, and make jewelry as well. She also appreciated architecture of all kinds, liked Tall Ships, and was as interested in a detailed discussion about building materials, legal nuances, and international cultures, as she was about plants, her latest adorable pooch, and the people she found around her. Her favorite season was spring, with all of its fresh green growth and burgeoning blossoms. She enjoyed white and blush wines, salads with beets, chickpeas and blue cheese dressing, ribs, and seafood (but not shellfish - she was allergic). She made killer pecan pies, banana bread, orange-cranberry relish, chicken ala king, and stuffed shells. She was filled with a quiet mirth that would bubble up and out regularly into a rich alto laugh and a melodious voice when she was wielding her dry humor and her carefully placed wry and witty observations, while trying to make people smile, and sharing her friendly gregariousness. She was adventurous, alert, and interested in the world. She was a bit fearless, brave, tenacious, determined, and good at picking up and trying again. She had many stories, and made many friends as she travelled, put her heart into her jobs, skills, talents, and tasks, nurtured her gardens, and lived her beautiful precious life. She is already greatly missed, and is survived by her daughter and future son-in-law, her sister Jean Reichley, and her brother Brian Davis.
