Obituary of Paul Shires Paul R. "Bob" Shires, Jr., 78, of Fruitland Park, FL passed away, Friday, February 4, 2011. Born in Wardell, MO on June 13, 1932. He lived in Wardell until 1949 and moved to Haiti and finished school in 1950. It was a time with Cypress trees and water. A lot of people went to town on boats. He went back to Wardell to marry his sweetheart on January 6, 1952. He worked for Kroger until 1962 and bought his first store in 1962. He loved visiting other stores and price things for friends and family deals. He loved being his own boss. He had another love. He dreamed a long time of moving to Florida. He sold his business in Malden, MO, picked up his wife and three sons and moved to Fruitland Park in 1970 without knowing a soul. He had fulfilled two of his dreams, having his own business and living in Florida with his family. It was a family affair. All of his boys know how to work and worked under one roof. It was very important for him to know that his boys knew how to work. He also wanted them to be good, outstanding citizens. And that meant to never lie, always tell the truth, don't steal, what is theirs is theirs. After the grocery business, we were in several other businesses. He was forced to retire when Bob's wife had a serious accident in 1994. He has been retired ever since. Bob is survived by his wife, Dolores Watkins Shires; three sons, Robert of Mt. Dora, Paul(Cynthia)of Gainesville, GA and Glen(Soyna) of Leesburg; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren; brother, Richard Gale Shires and sister, Glenda Faye Watkins. A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, February 6, 2011 at 4:00 PM with visitation prior to the service from 2:00 " 4:00 PM at Beyers Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL on Monday, February 7, 2011 at 11:00 AM. Visitation Visitation prior to the service from 2:00 " 4:00 PM at Beyers Funeral Home Chapel.
