Patrick Leo Wiles

Patrick Leo Wiles, of Leesburg, FL, formerly of Amherst and Buffalo, NY, died on March 19, 2017 at the age of 87. He was a graduate of North Tonawanda High School and went on to receive a Bachelor's degree and Master's Degree in Education from the University of Buffalo. Pat began his career in the Kenmore Town of Tonawanda School District as a physical education teacher. He was a high school gymnastics and football coach, and assistant athletic director. Later, Pat became an assistant principal at the middle school and high school levels. He retired from Kenmore West High School after 33 years in education. He was a member of the New York State Teachers Association, New York State Administrators Association and the University of Buffalo Alumni association. An avid Buffalo Bills and NY Yankees fan, Pat loved sports of ALL kinds; watching, playing, and coaching. He enjoyed playing golf, relaxing at the beach, and took up painting in his retirement. A former altar boy and seminary student, Pat lived a life in faith. Most recently, he was a member of the First Baptist Church in Leesburg. More than anything else, Pat loved spending time with his large and loving family, as evidenced by his enthusiasm in sharing stories of all their accomplishments. Pat is survived by his loving wife, Gloria (Bosso) Wiles of 17 years; his three children Mary (Lynn) Bayer of East Amherst, NY; Nancy (Donald) Dieker of Lake Mary, FL; and Wendy (Mat) Van Howe of Macomb Township, MI. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Megan, Lindsey, Patrick, Keely, Thomas, and Erin; as well as 8 great grandchildren; and Thomas Wiles, brother, of North Tonawanda, NY. Pat is preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Nan (Rhoda) Wiles; parents Leo Wiles and Marian (Full) Wiles; sister Rosemary Moeller. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 1st starting at 10am, with a prayer service to begin at 11am at Beyer's Funeral Home in Leesburg, FL.
