Mary West

Mary Frances West, 90, of Lady Lake, Florida, passed away on September 2, 2026. Mary was born to Oscar and Rena in Cumberland, Kentucky. They moved to Cincinnati when she was five years old. Mary was the oldest of four siblings: Maxine, John Henry, Connie and Brenda. The most defining moment of Mary’s life came when, at the age of 16, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. From that day forward, her faith became the foundation of her life. She loved the Lord deeply and wanted everyone she met to know about Jesus and the hope she had found in Him. That faith also played a special role in bringing Mary and her husband, Jim, together. Their story began with a chance encounter on the street when Mary invited Jim to church. That simple invitation grew into a love story, and Mary and Jim were married in 1956. Together, they welcomed four children: Ancel, Victoria, John, and Sharon. Mary and Jim were building a life and raising their young family when Jim was called home to be with the Lord in 1972. Through the joys and hardships that followed, Mary remained steadfast in her faith and devoted to her family. She continued to be active in her church and found great purpose in sharing her love of Jesus with children. She served faithfully as a Sunday school teacher, teaching children from nursery age through sixth grade and helping plant the seeds of faith in generations of young lives. Mary’s life was marked by a simple but powerful devotion: love for Jesus, love for her family, and a desire to share her faith with others. The faith she embraced as a 16-year-old girl remained the foundation of her life throughout her 90 years. Her family takes comfort in knowing that the Savior Mary spent her life loving and telling others about has now welcomed her home. Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jim, her son Ancel and daughter-in-law Jill. Mary is survived by her children, Victoria [Harry], John, and Sharon [Joseph]; as well as her 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Mary leaves behind a family who will deeply miss her love, her presence, and her unwavering faith, but who rejoice in knowing that she is now at home with the Lord she loved and served throughout her life. The viewing will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at Neidhard Young Funeral Home on 7401 Hamilton Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. The funeral services will follow.
