Martha "Ann" Smith

Martha Ann Smith, also known as Ann, peacefully departed from this world on January 6, 2024, in The Villages, Florida, at the age of 83. She was born on May 30, 1940, in Greenville, South Carolina, to the late Claude and Cora Owens. Ann was preceded in death by her beloved parents and seven cherished siblings: Roy, Austin, Douglas, Evangeline, Geraldine, Telma, and Helen. Ann was a devoted wife to her loving husband, Champ Smith, for an impressive 65 years. Together, they built a life filled with love and everlasting commitment. Ann's nurturing spirit extended to her children, Bryan Smith and Cheryl Smith, whom she raised with unwavering dedication and love. As a grandmother to seven grandchildren - Michael, Daniel, Nicole, Amanda, Bethallen (Beth-a-lyn), Emily, and Matthew - Ann found immense joy in watching them grow and flourish. Her heart overflowed with love and pride for each of them. In recent months, she welcomed the newest addition to her family, her great-granddaughter Sophia, who brought immeasurable happiness to her life. Ann possessed a gentle and caring nature that endeared her to all who knew her. Her unwavering faith in the Lord and her devotion to her family were the pillars of her life. Ann's warm presence and infectious laughter brought light and joy to any gathering. She had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel valued and loved. In her leisure time, Ann found pleasure in playing golf and cards with her dear friends. She shared a passion for puzzles with her beloved husband, Champ, and together they spent countless hours challenging their minds and creating cherished memories. Ann's keen eye for design and her talent for interior decorating added beauty and warmth to her home. Ann's educational journey began at Parker High School in Greenville, South Carolina. Throughout her life, she embraced various secretarial positions and took pride in providing exceptional support to those she worked with. However, her most cherished role was that of a dedicated wife and mother, creating a nurturing and loving environment for her family. Ann found solace and strength in her faith and was a faithful member of Leesburg Baptist Church in Leesburg, Florida. Her spiritual connection provided her with comfort and guidance throughout her life's journey. A memorial service to honor and celebrate Ann's life will be held on Friday, January 19th, at the esteemed Beyers Funeral Home in Lady Lake, Florida. The family will receive friends and loved ones for a public viewing starting at 10 am, followed by a poignant service at 11 am. In memory of Ann's beautiful life, the family kindly requests that contributions be made to The Kidney Foundation. This charitable organization held a special place in Ann's heart and honoring her memory through supporting their vital work would be a meaningful tribute.
