Kathy Dean Horine Hoyt

Kathy Dean Horine Hoyt, 62, of Fruitland Park, Florida passed away on March 22, 2017 in the care of Cornerstone Hospice at Orlando Regional Medical Center from an extended illness. She was born to Gerald Horine of Joplin, Missouri and Delores Shoemaker of Galena, Kansas on May 27, 1954 at St. John's Hospital in Joplin, Missouri. Kathy attended Riverton High School, class of 1972, and went onto college in Parsons, Kansas at Labette Community College, becoming a Registered Nurse in 1997. Kathy worked as a Director of Nursing in Baxter Springs, Kansas before relocating to the Florida Keys. In the Keys, she continued with her career as a D.O.N. before becoming a hospice nurse and case manager at Cornerstone Hospice for Lake and Sumter counties in central Florida. Her belief and passion for end of life care through hospice was unwavering. She affected many with her generosity and open heart when they needed it most. She also found the best companion in a little shih tzu named Sookie. Kathy is survived by her daughters, Traca Alexander Reed and Katie Hoyt Natera and their husbands, Jack Reed and Elkin Natera all of whom reside in central Florida. She was blessed with three grandchildren, Amanda Alexander, Payton Reed, and Daniel Natera. Kathy still has her stepmother, Margaret Horine of Joplin, Missouri and her aunt and uncle, Randy and Kathi Feezell of Rogers, Arkansas. Kathy is also survived by her sisters and brother: Linda Williams, Suzanne Meyers, David Shoemaker, Stacy Waterman all of Galena, Kansas, and Lori Davis and Lisa Williams of Joplin, Missouri and their children and grandchildren. Kathy was married to Steve Hoyt of Wichita, Kansas in 1982, and became a mother to three boys, Todd Hoyt of Bentonville, Arkansas, Tim Hoyt, and Toby Hoyt of Joplin, Missouri and their wives, Michele Hoyt, Lizzy Ramirez, and Angela Hoyt. She was blessed with seven more grandchildren: Ryan, Reid, Rhet, Addison, Maks, Michael, and Kierstin. Kathy was predeceased by her ex-husband, Steve Hoyt, her parents, Gerald Horine, and David and Delores Shoemaker, and Kathy's son, Todd, also passed in 2014. In lieu of flowers or gifts, Kathy and her family ask you to donate to Cornerstone Hospice or to your local hospice in her name. She wanted all that loved her and her family to celebrate with joy, love, and laughter. It was her wish not to have a formal memorial or service to grieve her leaving.
