Karl Ray Berry

Karl Ray Berry, age 87, of Mount Dora, Florida, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2024. Born in Ogden, Utah, Karl was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was known for his sharp wit and strict discipline with a deep love for family, God, and country. Karl is survived by his wife and love; Andrea (Park) Berry; his six children: Kevin Berry, Darren Berry, Steven Berry, Michael Berry, Rebecca (Berry) Williams, and Sarah (Berry) Olson; his 15 beloved grandchildren; and his two sisters: Barbara (Berry) Christensen and Maxine (Berry) Hadley. Karl grew up in the beautiful mountains of Ogden, Utah, where he developed a strong foundation of values and friendships that lasted a lifetime. Karl's achievements began early in life when he attained the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout in the Scouts BSA program, a testament to his dedication and leadership. After serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Germany, he graduated from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. His commitment to service continued in the Air Force Reserves, along with a distinguished career based in Vietnam, Germany, and the United States as an intelligence agent for the United States Department of the Army, and the Office of Naval Intelligence, along with work done for the Central Intelligence Agency. His career earned him distinction, respect and admiration until his retirement in 1993. In 1960, Karl married Dian (Arnoldus) Voss, with whom he had his six children. In 2006, he was married and sealed to his eternal partner and love, Andrea (Park) Berry, sharing his life and travel adventures with her. Karl's passions were many. He was an avid woodworker, a certified Jägermeister (hunt master) in Germany, and a motorcycle enthusiast who loved boating and travel. He had a gift for storytelling and enjoyed sharing laughter with family and friends. His commitment to genealogy work reflected his deep appreciation for family. Karl is preceded in death by his parents, Donald Ray Berry and Leora (Peters) Berry, and his sister, Renee Berry. He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter, a testament to the bonds he nurtured throughout his life. A private ceremony will be held in Utah for family and close friends to honor his memory. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his joy of life, the laughter he brought, and the love he shared with those around him.
