Obituary of Julia Tyre JULIA CATHERINE (LEE) TYRE, 82, died Sunday, October 11, 2009 in Jacksonville, FL. Catherine was born March 2,1927 in 4th District, Appling County, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late James Grice Lee and Terah (Cannady) Lee of the Long Branch Community. She was a long-time resident of Fruitland Park and Wildwood, FL since 1953 with her late husband Odeen Bailey Tyre. Catherine Graduated from Surrency High School with the Class of 1945. After graduation she worked on the production line of Dixie Crystals Sugar Company in Savannah, GA. She married her childhood sweetheart on January 12, 1946 upon his return from occupation duty in Japan as a paratrooper. While raising three children, she worked at various jobs including theater box office attendant, motel housekeeper, theater concessionaire, Lake County Schools food service, contributing community reporter for The Daily Commercial, and American Red Cross Volunteer. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Fruitland Park, FL where she sang in the choir. Catherine is survived by her children, Commander Odeen L. Tyre, U.S. Navy (Retired) & Bonnie J.(House) Tyre, Jacksonville, FL; Sergeant First Class Benny O. L. Tyre, U.S. Army (Retired), Leesburg; Julia Dawn (Tyre) & Robert M. McToureous, Blairsville, GA; three sisters, Mary Lee Turner, Holly Hill, FL; Gwendolyn Lee Reese, Baxley, GA and Arnold & Myrtle (Lee) Rich, Enfield, NH. She has seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A Funeral Service will be held at First Baptist Church of Fruitland Park, Fl, on Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at 11:00 AM, family and friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service, interment will follow at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. In lieu of flowers Memorial donations may be made to Florida Baptist Children's Home, 1015 Sikes Blvd., Lakeland, FL 32815. Visitation Family and friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service. Services A Funeral Service will be held at First Baptist Church of Fruitland Park, Fl, on Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Chad D. Driggers officiating. Interment Interment will follow at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
