Julia Blair Champion Cary

On Wednesday, November 3, 2020, our darling daughter Blair Champion peacefully departed this world for her heavenly home. Blair was born on May 17, 1987, a precious gift to her parents, Bob and Caroline Champion. She attended Leesburg schools, graduating from Leesburg High School in 2005. She attended Valencia State College, Lake Sumter State College and later was a top graduate of The Salon Academy in Lady Lake, FL where she combined her love of art, science and people into a professional career. Her career path eventually led her to St. Petersburg, FL where she met so many people she would come to love, including her husband, Dan. She and Dan met late one night after she accidently locked her keys and phone inside her condo. She flagged him down, he rescued her, and the story of their love and life together began. God had a hand in their meeting that night. He provided Blair with the wonderful man who would be by her side for the rest of her life. Just months after they met, in September of 2014, Blair was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer. Blair and Dan were married in March of the following year, after she finished six months of chemotherapy. In spite of her diagnosis, she was determined to live her life to the fullest - and she did just that. She recently told us that the last six years of her life were the best years of her life. She understood that each day is a special gift. She lived each day with faith and love and joy. She was an inspiration to everyone who knew her. Blair leaves behind her loving husband, Daniel Cary of Yalaha, FL, her parents, Bob and Caroline Champion of Leesburg, FL, brother Matt Champion and wife Ryann of Oxford, FL, Dan's parents, Russ and Janet Cary of St. Petersburg, FL and her grandfather Keith Meredith of Foscoe, NC. and family friend Coleen Mahla of Foscoe, NC. She is also survived by her aunts Marjorie Meredith of Foscoe, NC, Eva Miller and husband Warren, of Deep Gap, NC, Mary Nelson and husband Bill of Leesburg, FL and Alison Martin of Orlando, FL; uncles, Tom Meredith and wife Debbie of Ocala, FL, and Billy Martin and wife Columba of Leesburg, FL and many cousins. Lastly, Blair leaves behind her beloved fur babies, Zuri and Tater. She was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Bernell Meredith and Marion Martin. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Morrison United Methodist Church, Leesburg FL, on Sunday, November 8, 2020 at 3:00 pm with a viewing 1 hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Celma Mastry Ovarian Cancer Foundation in St. Petersburg, FL or St. Jude's Hospital for Children.
