Joseph "Joe" Mikulewicz

Joseph “Joe” Mikulewicz, 77, of The Villages, FL, loving husband, father, and uncle, passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2022. Born in Trenton, New Jersey, he was raised on his family’s farm in Robbinsville. Joe was a graduate of Allentown High School and Rider College. He served in the United States Air Force as an Aircraft Maintenance Specialist, both stateside and overseas, and fought in the Vietnam War. Joe was an avid pilot, completing his first solo flight when he was 19 years old. After serving our nation, he worked for Mercer County Community College where he started the school’s aviation program. Even today this college is the only accredited aviation degree program in New Jersey. While working at Mercer, he met and married the love of his life, Joanie. Together they raised two beautiful children, Kathryn and Adam, on the same property where he grew up. Soon after marrying Joanie, Joe became a full time pilot. He flew Learjet charter planes before becoming a flight captain for People Express and then Continental Airlines. He eventually retired in 2005. Joe and Joanie loved outdoor activities and dancing, and were active, fun, loving parents to their children. Their son Adam suffered from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and sadly passed away in 2016. In 2020, his beautiful wife Joanie passed away to join her son in Heaven. Joe is preceded in death by Joanie, Adam, his mother Kamilla Mikulewicz, his father Bronislaw Mikulewicz, his brothers Adam, Henry, and Raymond Mikulewicz, his sister Helen Vanna, and his brother-in-law John Vanna. He is survived by his daughter, Kathryn Mikulewicz, his sister-in-law Gerri Mikulewicz, as well as many nieces and nephews. He will be remembered for his deep faith in the Lord, his great sense of humor, his fascinating stories, his energetic personality, and the way he always put others first. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at 8:30 am at St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church, 1351 Paige Pl, Lady Lake, FL. Family and friends may call on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 for a viewing from 2:00 - 4:00 pm at Beyers Funeral Home and Crematory, 134 N Hwy 441, Lady Lake, FL. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Joe’s name to the Glioblastoma Foundation, PO Box 62066, Durham, NC 27715 and the Muscular Dystrophy Association National Office, 161 N Clark St, Suite 3550, Chicago, IL 60601.
