Johnnie Gregory

Johnnie Isadore Gregory, passed away on April 23, 2024, in Altoona, FL, on the 70th wedding anniversary of him and Barbara Gregory, by whom he was preceded in death. He was born on June 27, 1932 in Huntington, WV and lived most of his life in Pittsburgh, PA. He is survived by 5 children, Denise Heintz (Bob), Pam Hendrickson (Greg), Mark Gregory (Sandy), Mike Gregory (Debbie) and Chris Gregory (Cindy). He was a loving grandfather of 14 grandkids, Bob Heintz, Amanda Gregory, Samantha Belfoure, Jonathan Gregory, Angela Heintz, Caroline Bonanza, Luke Gregory, Nick Hendrickson, Adrienne Miller, Stephanie Gregory, Hannah Gregory, Jordenne Gregory, Madison Gregory and Taylor Gregory. As well as 10 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Thella Gregory along with one sibling, Joseph Gregory. He will be remembered for his love of family and community. Keeping his family close was one of his missions in life. His most recognizable saying was “STAYING CONNECTED”. Johnnie was known for his positive nature and his love for baseball. He would talk baseball to anyone who would listen. He made a positive impact on everyone that he was around. Johnnie had a very strong faith and was actively involved in his churches in Homosassa Springs, and Lakeview Terrace. Johnnie worked for Sears for over 40 years and moved his family over 10 times, which made for lifelong friendships and unfathomable family values. He treasured his annual vacations to Florida and Christmas get-togethers, where he was surrounded by all of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His legacy for love of family, and the importance of “…just say thank you..” will be carried forward by all his family and friends. In keeping with Johnnie and Barbara’s wishes there will be a joint Celebration of Life at Lakeview Terrace on May 7th. There will also be a joint memorial in Pittsburgh for both Johnnie and Barbara at a later date. Lakeview Terrace has been an incredible place for them. A memory gift can be given to the Lakeview Terrace Scholarship Fund in Johnnie and Barbara’s name.
