John Conrad

John Conrad passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2024 at Cornerstone Hospice. John was born March 14, 1941 in Muncie, Indiana to Bill and Bernice Conrad. John coached his son in baseball from T-Ball through 7th grade; he also headed the umpires at Royerton Little League while umpiring many games himself. He retired from Delco Battery of GM in Muncie after working 39 years as a Pipefitter and was in the last years as Chairman of Local UAW 489. John also served on the Muncie Police Reserves for 15 years with his father. He was a member of Community United Methodist Church of Fruitland Park, Florida and lived in The Plantation of Leesburg for 24 years. John was an avid bowler for several years and one season bowled in nine leagues. He also bowled three 300 games. He bowled in many bowling tournaments throughout the years with his many friends and family including the ABC national tournament that was held in many different states. He was a 50-year member of Masonic Lodge 433 in Muncie and was a member of the Scottish Rite of Indianapolis, Indiana. He loved to golf and golfed with his friends in the Delco League. Later in his and Pam’s life, they took Square Dancing lessons and belonged to many clubs throughout Indiana. After moving to Leesburg, Florida, they danced in two advanced clubs. They travelled with their friends to many square dance weekends while meeting many old and new friends and callers. He spent many weekends before moving to Florida watching his grandkids in their various sports. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Pamela Haines Conrad, daughter Becki (Jino) Stuffel, son J.D. (Jeannie) Conrad, daughter Diahanna Knuckles, grandchildren Ashlie (Cody) Lee, Nick (Erika) Knuckles, David (Caitlin) Conrad, Joel (Lindsey) Conrad, Miles (Mackenzie) Alexander, Kaylia (Nick) Upchurch, Dustin Handley, Cole (Megan) Alexander, Kenzie Knuckles, 19 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by granddaughter Elyssia Conrad in 1996 and son-in-law Mike Knuckles in 2015. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 2, 2024 at 2:00pm at Community United Church, 309 College Ave, Fruitland Park, FL. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to a dog rescue of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to Beyers Funeral Home of Leesburg, Florida.
