James Joseph Mills

An astounding husband, amazing father and son, loving grandson and brother, wonderful friend and a natural born leader, James Joseph Mills, III of Lady Lake, FL passed away in the early morning hours of Monday, May 25, 2020. Always striving to be the best person he could be, and guiding others along the way, James overcame many adversities to become the successful man he is today. James is survived by his paternal grandparents Col. James J. Mills (US Army-Ret) and Carole Mills. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Col. Warren G. Love (US Air Force - Ret) and Carol Love. Barbara Mills and James the love and light of her life, were preparing to celebrate their 12th year of marriage on June 14th. They have been together for 15 years, and along the way James was a loving father to Mariah, Dakota, Trinity Mills, and Danielle Copper. Two weeks shy of earning his MBA from LSU, he was set to take on the role of Human Resource Director at Babette's Furniture. Starting as a warehouse temp, James' value as an employee was immediately recognized and he continued working his way up in the company. James enjoyed coaching his daughter Trinity's softball team. He enjoyed watching Mariah, and Danielle dance. He also loved to watch Dakota ride horses. James, Barbara, and his children had recently put the finishing touches on their dream home. James was an active member of Heritage Community Church. These blessings all became possible following a simple walk and conversation with God that changed his life forever in 2013. This year led him to a life of recovery. James' life is an inspirational story that has encouraged others and has shown that all things are possible through God. A public viewing will be held at Heritage Community Church at 509 W. Berckman St. in Fruitland Park on Saturday, May 30, 2020 from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon. Appropriate social distancing guidelines will be followed. A private family Service will follow at 1:30 pm. Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery in Fruitland Park. Friends are welcome to join family for the burial.
