Obituary of Jack Sandstrom Jack Oscar Sandstrom, 89 of Leesburg, FL was born in Blountstown, FL and passed away July 6, 2014. He was a veteran of the US Navy, serving in the Pacific during WWII. His career encompassed 27 years in law enforcement, including the City of Miami Police Department, Miami Dade County Police and Dade County Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, where he retired as it's Director. He was a longtime member of the P.B.A. of Dade County. After his retirement, he moved to Leesburg, from Miami in 1980 and was a member of Morrison United Methodist Church. He had a love of gardening and was known for his green thumb but will primarily be remembered for his kind heart, loving nature and many friendships. He enjoyed fishing, golf and recounting tales from his life. A loving and beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, he is survived by: a son Bruce Sandstrom; 2 daughters: Teresa (Scott) Simken and Gail (Mark) Becker; 4 grandchildren: Brandon Simken, Erin (Adam) Wilkens, Jeremy (Megan) Becker and Taylar Becker; 2 great granddaughters: Ava Grace and Peyton Becker; as well as a sister Alline Allison. He was preceded in death by his wife Peggy in 2011. A visitation will be held in the chapel of Beyers Funeral Home in Leesburg, FL on Thursday July 10, 2014 from 6-7:30 PM. Funeral Service will be held Friday July 11, 2014 at 10 AM in the chapel of First Baptist Church in Leesburg with the Rev. Dr. McCoy Gibbs officiating. Interment with Military Honors will take place at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
