Hubert C. Saul

Born in Warren, Ohio, to Hubert C. Saul and Margaret List on July 6, 1946, Hubert later grew up in Florida where he attended both Tampa and Umatilla schools throughout his childhood and adolescent years. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1967-1968 during the Vietnam War. After returning home from the war, Hubert joined the family business at Saul's Fishmarket, where he proudly carried on the legacy as a third- generation commercial fisherman. Fishing was more than a profession to him — it was a way of life deeply rooted in family, tradition, and hard work. He married Arlene Frances Peterson on April 25, 1970. Together they continued building their life and commercial fishing business side by side. In 1976, they went on to start Huey Saul Ferneries, continuing the family's strong work ethic and dedication to providing for their family and community. While building the fernery, they added to their family with three sons — Mickey, Brett, and Adam. Huey especially enjoyed building things, working with his hands, and teaching his boys the value of hard work alongside him. Throughout his life, Huey enjoyed airboating, barbequing with friends and family, and spending time with those he loved most. He never knew a stranger and was truly a friend to all. He was a true man's man - hardworking, loyal, and always willing to lend a hand. He had a passion for old cars, building dune buggies, and later restoring and building his beloved 1955 Chevy. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Arlene Saul; his sons, Mickey Saul and wife Christie of Painesville, Ohio, Brett Saul and wife Hollie of Pierson, Florida, and Adam Saul and wife Gine of Pierson, Florida. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Weston and wife Breanne, Morgan, Gatlin, and Gunner; and great- grandchildren, Aubree, Maci, and Westlynn. He is also survived by his sister, Nancy Saul Jones of Astor, Florida, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Margaret Saul; and his brothers, Ronnie Saul, Larry Saul, and Arthur Saul.
