Obituary of George Kistner George Ernest Kistner, Sr., 90, The Villages, FL, formerly of Bloomfield, NJ, passed away on March 5. 2013. Born in Belleville, NJ, George and his wife of 67 years, Irene, moved to The Villages from Lake Ariel, PA in 1994. A veteran of WWII, George was a T/Sgt in the US Army Air Corps, Eighth Air Force. He served his country on a B-17 combat crew as a Radio Operator and gunner; he flew 29 missions, and was awarded several medals, including the Air Medal and 4 Oak Leaf clusters, plus two Presidential citations, one for D-day and the other for a secret shuttle bombing raid to Russia. He was a lifetime member of the 388th Bomb Group. George was an avid camper with his family, a former Scoutmaster for 10 years, and a member of the Order of the Arrow. In addition, George was a 53 yr. member of the Masonic Lodge, and he was a member of the Tri-county High 12 Club #674. For 33 years, George was a Fourdrinier wire weaver at Eastwood-Nealy Corp., Belleville NJ. George was a charter member of St. George Episcopal Church. He is survived by his wife Irene, whom he met in England in 1944; his daughter, Janet Gottheiner (Bruce), Ringwood NJ; Sons, George Jr. (Karen) Rolesville NC, and James (Lisa) of Belleville, NJ; Eight grandchildren and 3 great-granddaughters. He is also survived by his sisters, Doris Weiler and Shirley VanDyne, and several nieces and nephews. George was pre-deceased by his daughter, Alison Harrop, and his sister Edith Kistner. A memorial service will be held at St. George Episcopal Church, The Villages, FL on Friday, March 15, 2013 at 10:00 AM followed by interment at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations in George's memory may be given to St. George Episcopal Church, 1250 Paige Place, the Villages, FL 32159; or to the Cornerstone Hospice Team, 601 Casa Bella, The Villages, FL 32159. Services A memorial service will be held at St. George Episcopal Church, The Villages, FL on Friday, March 15, 2013 at 10:00 AM.
