Frank Traficante

Frank Traficante passed peacefully Tuesday September 28, 2021. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on April 22, 1944 the son of Anthony and Sara (Vetrano) Traficante, and he is the youngest brother to the late Peter and Salvatore. He leaves his loving wife of 56 years Frances (Costa) Traficante his devoted son Anthony Traficante, cherished granddaughter Silvana Pagnotta her husband Anthony, great-grand children Giuseppe and Nina who know him as Poppy and his many nieces and nephews who loved and admired him for the wonderful loving man he was. His spirit will forever shine in their hearts and they will know his inspiring life story to guide them. Frank served in France with the United States Army and was a proud American. In 1970, with little money, he moved his family to an old farmhouse in Mellenville, NY and worked in the local cement factory. Then in 1973, with the support of his wife and family, Frank bravely started a small business known as L'Oro D'Italia on Warren St in Hudson NY. In his pork store, bakery and authentic Italian food market Frank made a wide range of delectable fare, especially his breads, cookies and pastries. His hard work at developing his craft and his business acumen made his store a success. He went on to build a house in Stuyvesant, NY and became an active and contributing member in the neighborhood. He accumulated many friends along the way. Frank was an avid fisherman, hunter, traveller, and card player. He belonged and contributed to many local organizations and could often be found enjoying his pastimes with friends at the VFW hall, the Sons of Italy, the Glencadia Gun Club, the Elks lodge, the Hudson Boat Club and volunteer Fireman for the Hudson fire department to name a few. Frank will be remembered by wearing an apron, or carrying a fishing pole, or walking in the woods, but mostly by his beaming smile when he was surrounded by those he loved. In 2015, Frank and Fran retired to Leesburg, Florida where they made more friends and enjoyed their many interests together. Frank was loved by all and will be greatly missed. A gathering to celebrate the life of Frank Traficante will be planned at a later date.
