Frances Burke Colborne

Obituary of Frances Burke Colborne Frances Eucharia (Burke) Colborne went to heaven on June 13th, 2013. She was born in Boston Massachusetts on April 21, 1926 to Michael and Ellen (Connor) Burke. She was predeceased by Her husband of 56 years William Donald (Don) Colborne, sister Anna Burke and Sister Rita Eucharia and brother Thomas Burke. Fran joined the Marine Corp in the early 1950's , serving her country for three years until she met the love of her life. Fran and Don married in 1954 and shared 56 years of marriage. They raised their family of two daughters Barbara Ellen Colborne of Arnold, MD and Sharon Colborne Mahaffey (Husband -Jay) of Millersville, MD and three sons, David Frederick Colborne (Wife-Sheryl) of Severna Park , MD, Kevin Michael Colborne (Wife-Robin) of Leesburg, FL and Brian Donald Colborne (Wife-Kelli) of Okahumpka, FL. Grandchildren include Kara and Kasey Colborne, Stephen, Jathan, Eric and Caleb Mahaffey, Grant, Logan, Delanie, Spencer and Harrison Colborne, and Kaitlyn and Jonathan Colborne. Following the "Blizzard of 1979", Fran and Don moved from Glen Burnie, Maryland to Eustis, Florida, along with various family members to start a new life. Fran worked as administrative assistant at the Lake County Chamber of Commerce, Lake County Courthouse and Lake Sumter Community College until she retired in the early 1990's. Her five children and 13 grandchildren were her greatest source of pride and if you were around her for any period of time she would share what was "going on" with any and all of them. Her family was her legacy. She loved her children , their spouses and grandchildren and celebrated each of their unique talents, travels and contributions to this life. She is and will always be "The Rock" and "The Conduit" of the family and she will be missed. The family would like to express our appreciation for friends, neighbors and others who expressed their love in their participation in her life on earth. To the many doctors and nurses of Lake County and specifically Dr. Fernandez and the staff of Advanced Nursing who shared their talents we are very thankful. A very special thanks to Willierene, Easter, Patsy and Bob who cared for, loved and truly invested in her life. You are all a blessing that we are eternally thankful for. We all have this one opportunity, this one blink of an eye to do the right thing, to help others, to look into each other's eyes, extend our hands and truly love and appreciate each other. This is our opportunity for as many "todays" as we have. Services A service will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Eustis, FL on June 25th, 2013 at 9:30 AM. Interment Interment will follow at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
