Eugenia Lingerfelt

Eugenia Diane Lingerfelt departed this world on February 4, 2026. She was born January 20, 1961, to the late Eugene Yancey and Erma Groshong Yancey. Diane grew up in Arizona alongside her brother, David, and her cousins, who were as close as siblings. Her family later relocated to Florida in the late 1980’s, where her father and brother built a successful flooring business. During this time, Diane and her mother opened a seamstress business together, helping many happy clients decorate their homes with beautiful draperies and textiles. It was during this chapter of her life that Diane met the love of her life, Brian Lingerfelt. They were married on Valentine’s Day in 1990. Together they raised their beautiful daughter, Lacey, who later blessed them with adoring twin granddaughters, Chloe and Kaley. Those three girls and her new grandson Kingston, meant the world to Diane and brought immense love and joy to her life. In addition to her devotion to family, Diane and Brian shared a love for animals and opened their home over the years to many beloved “furbabies,” both canine and feline, each one loved as part of the family. Later, Diane and Brian embraced a quieter, more rural lifestyle, relocating from Orlando to Lake County, Florida. Diane began working for Lake County Schools, where she truly found her professional footing. She first served as a Fiscal Assistant in the Maintenance Department before spending many years as a valued and respected member of the Risk Management Department. Her warm, generous personality quickly turned coworkers into lifelong friends. Diane’s quick wit, remarkable technical skills, and kindhearted spirit made her a joy to work with and a friend to many. Diane also loved to travel and made sure her passport never expired. From Europe to Cuba and nearly every Caribbean island in between, she rarely passed up an opportunity for adventure. She and Brian especially loved cruising and shared more than 20 cruises together. When she wasn’t working, traveling, or spending time with family and friends, Diane could usually be found reading or shopping—and she truly loved to shop. A natural fashionista, Diane also had a wonderful eye for home decorating, creating spaces that were nothing short of magazine-worthy. Anyone who had the privilege of knowing Diane loved and respected her. She was truly a ray of sunshine and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Those especially mourning her loss are her beloved husband, Brian Lingerfelt of Umatilla, Florida; her daughter, Lacey Davis; her granddaughters, Kaley and Chloe Denoyer; and her great-grandson, Kingston Sweet, all of Mount Dora, Florida. She is also deeply mourned by her brother, David Yancey and his children; Jessica, Ciera and James Yancey, of Sorrento, Florida; and more dear friends than could ever be listed. The family will celebrate the life of this truly wonderful woman privately.
