Emory Blake Fellows

Emory Blake Fellows passed away peacefully after a sudden short illness on February 27, 2025 in Leesburg, FL. He was 96 years old. Born April 19, 1928, Emery was the oldest son of Emery Blake Fellows, Sr. and Anna Cleora Bigelow in Northborough, Massachusetts. He attended school in Northborough and worked as a farmer. He met and later married Muriel Joyce Lanz of Rockville, CT on November 26, 1952. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict with his best friend Ray Sammuels. He had many escapades and stories of his adventures while in Germany. After returning from active duty, he joined Pratt Whitney Aircraft and worked as an Assembler for 36 years. The couple were lifelong members of the Apostolic Christian Church in Ellington, CT. The family enjoyed summer camping travels across the United States and spent many summers touring with close friends as their children, Ray, Gene and Jim grew. He was clever, industrious, funny and enjoyed pranks and jokes. He was an exceptional animal-shaped pancake maker and loved his family without condition. After his wife Muriel’s passing, Emery remarried Claire Chaffee originally from St. Johnsbury, VT on July 12, 2002. Together they traveled and lived an extraordinary second time around for twenty-two years. Emery is survived by his sister Ruby Fellows Ridgeway (Washington), three sons and daughters-in-law, Ray and Barbara Fellows, Gene Fellows, and James and Renee Fellows; his grandchildren Jessie Fellows Ferroni (Arizona), Jason Fellows (deceased), Melissa Fellows Piazza, Jeremiah Fellows (deceased), Alexander Fellows, and Joshua Fellows; and great grandchildren Gina Ferroni, Jeremiah, Haven, and Autum. Additionally, he became the step-father to Claire’s children, Tammy Munoz, Randy Frye and Nadine Frye, John Frye, Lisa Frye Whitt and Coley Whitt; grandchildren Dannielle Maynor, Meghann Sheppard, Dustin Whitt, Emily Dowling, David Frye, Britney Read, Zachary Frye and many great grandchildren. He was the cornerstone of our family. His strength, resilience, sense of humor and love will be missed deeply by us all. A family grave-side service will be held in Ellington, CT in the late spring.
